How dare you sir.
Poor Cogliano. Stuck on the 3rd line in a ill-suited checking role playing with the wrong type of players. He needs a passer. I'm sure he is among the guys looking for a coaching change. Horcoff should be our third line guy, Gagner our 1st, and Cogliano our 2nd

19 - 89 - 83
12 - 13 - 21
27 - 10 - 34
18 - 51 - 78/22

Would be my lines. And don't give me crap about soft. These "iron tough" lines we're throwing out there right now aren't working, we need to try something different. Less defense on the top line. Can we really do much worse then 3w in 12?

I agree with you, Cogliano is getting the shaft for a player who has consistently looked good while playing limited minutes with horrible linemates. I think it's time he got a look on a line with skill.

O'Sullivan Cogliano Hemsky

or

Nilsson Cogliano Hemsky

I'd like to see either two of those lines and not for 2 shifts like MacT always does. Play them together for a stretch of games.

Honestly, you can't be serious? That 1st line would be god awful against any team with just a tiny bit of size. I like Cogliano and all but if he wants to be a top 6 player, he either has to learn to be more effective as a winger or win more then one faceoff a period. Also, of all the forwards Cogliano is one of the worst forwards they have in their own end. He's been on for countless goals this season when his guy is putting the puck in the net and he's nowhere near or he pulls the stupidity he did against the Thrashers in OT.

How any of you can sit here with a straight face say Gagner & Cogliano should play ahead of Horcoff is laughable. There is more to being a 1st line player then many of you think. Horcoff is the best choice as 1st line C on this team and it's by a very wide margin.

I'm really quite upset about Cogs. He has been the only Oiler who has actually been a threat on the ice. He works hard and puts it all out there. His youth might make him make wrong judgment calls but you can't punish him like this! Completely ridiculous!

The Oilers should make this one a promo night. Win and Mac T keeps his job for another game. Lose and the fans get to see him tossed into a big garbage can at centre ice and dragged out the Zamboni entrance. The fans standing, cheering loudly, Dustin Penner with his first smile of the year banging his stick on the boards from the bench. Me crying with unbridled joy.
So why is it an excuse for 29 teams but not for the Oilers. Last season when the Oilers had injuries, fans said injuries are an excuse. I'm getting fed up with the double standard here. Why are injuries not an excuse for 29 teams but when Edmonton has a jillion injuries it's an excuse. Stop with the double standard. Everyone should be treated the same and not this double standard crap. Don't give St. Louis the injury excuse. If the Oilers weren't allowed the injury excuse last season, St. Louis should be given the injury excuse this season.

It's only an excuse if ya don't make the playoffs! The Blues do have by far the most man-games lost in the NHL this year though

One thing many people don't seem to do on this board is actually give the team the Oilers play some credit when they beat the Oilers. Many bash the Avs and Thrashers lately as such horrid teams but the teams they've beat lately outside of the Oil include: MTL, CGY, WSH, BUF, MIN & CHI. All teams battling for a playoff spot or higher end teams that are trying to secure a better playoff spot.

Have the Oil struggled? They sure have but most nights they haven't been awful...some nights yes but not every night.

Yes I am serious. Horcoff can bring all the checking and defense he wants to the checking line. I'm sick of him flubbing up every pass he gets. Move him to the 3rd line and give the kids a shot. Horcoff isn't providing any offense, why not one of the other kids? What, you afraid we're going to lose if the kids get a shot? Like 3w in 12gp lose? What we are doing isn't working, so let's try something else.

And honestly, most nights this year we have been awful. Roli has saved us a bunch, Hemsky too. No flow, can't connect 3 passes, give up a million scoring chances and shots, stupid penalties at the worst times, etc...

There is no way this baseball game ends for at least another 10-20 minutes. Looks like another late start for the us fans.

5 on 5 we've been rather dominant lately... so why change there?

It's the PP and PK that have let this team down.

So yes, we can do worse than 3W (5 OTL) in 12... we could have 1 or 2 W and 10 or 11 RTL.

O'Sullivan on the top line - something that should have happened the day after deadline day.

Mission, eh?

A fine movie - disparate characters and temperaments must unite to fight a common foe - time for the members of the Oil to do the same!
Cue the tragic, sweeping Ennio Morricone music if this goes poorly

The kids did get a shot at the start of the season as a unit and they did nothing. Gagner stillplays a fair amount and as long as Cogliano can't win a faceoff he will not play more then he does.

As for them being awful most nights this year, I guess you are saying it's ok for a guy like Cogliano or others to suck at times during the season but not Horcoff? Horcoff should be nowhere near the PP and I've said for years at the absolute most he should be a 2nd unit guy but, IMO, that's a push. Horcoff isn't a 1st line C but on this team he clearly is and that's a fact.

O'Sullivan has already done more than Kotalik has on the 1st line. (I hate using nicknames, but I'm going to have to start typing out "Sully", because typing his full name is giving me fits for some reason).
