Let's hope he just had a night off. I remember other ESPN anchors sitting in for Bucci in the past: Michael Kim and Steve Berthiaume (???).

I dont know, sometimes Buccigross just pisses me off. Those stupid phrases like "Holy shnikey!" (or whatever the hell that word is) makes me want to throw things at the t.v. But yeah, everyone else on espn sucks, so he's pretty much our best choice.

the thing that gets on my nerves is when he says like 'some unknown musician' is to 'some unknown musical group' as 'certain hockey player' is to 'certain hockey team.

or is it the other way around?

"What Danny Elfman is to Oingo Boingo, Kirk Maltby is to the Detroit Red Wings"
I seem to recall that one.

I second that motion.

What Dave Grohl is to the Foo Fighters, John Buccigross is to NHL 2NIGHT.

I like Bucci but I can't stand his pop-rock band comparisons.

Oingo Boingo ?
Bare-Naked ladies?

Give me a break already

That's what this thread should be about, his retarded pop-rock band plugs.

Bucci rocks. He has a personality (and not a mocking, annoying one), and he loves hockey with passion. His columns are excellent as well.

I find it reassuring the most people can say is annoying about him are his comparisons (which I don't mind, recognizing music is always purely subjective--and he likes Live just as I do) Although I don't find it reassuring that it actually grates on people. Talk about looking for reasons to be annoyed

I like Bucci mainly because he is a fan of the sport and more importantly he knows it. That can't be said for too many others on ESPN.

Bucci probably had problems with his toupe on his head and had a bad hair day and did not want to be on TV... Sometimes his hair is real bad and his toupe really shows...

Bucci, a wig? Hell no. His hair was in a slump at the beginning of the season, but its looking good now.

I love Bucci, his enthusiam for the sport is contagious, and he is witty as all get out.

OK, where IS Buccigross? Tonight, his replacement was on NHL 2Nite again. That show without Bucci is sluggish. By the way, the replacement said about Zdeno Chara, after Barry Melrose mentioned Chara's frame, "He can't dunk. He has Larry Bird vertical leap." Um, what does that have to do with hockey? Melrose looked to be taken aback by the comment before responding with a tepid response.

I read his column, he said something about being on vacation for a week or two, but since he updated his column this week, no clue why he isn't on tv

I seriously hope to god some other network, ie Viacom-CBS would get the NHL, that would frickin' rock, regional hockey games on Spike and National Saturday night games on CBS, and it wouldn't be the Red Wings automatically every freaking weekend.

Maybe some Saturday afternoon double headers as opposed to regional games. Center Ice Viewers would get a 1pm, 4pm on the afternoon double-dip, and then Hockey Night in Canada. Immaculate.
