Assuming standings don't change, how about:

Heatley-Spezza-St.Louis
Little-Ribeiro-Roy
Sullivan-Arnott-Dumont
Weiss-Horcoff-Horton

Weber-Bouwmeester
Souray-Burns
Hamhuis-Phillips

Possible goalies: Pascal Leclaire, Mike Smith, Marty Turco

B. Richards is injured right? Has Burns had a good year? Are Schenn and Doughty good enough? Should McCabe and Jovo be considered?

EDIT: Stamkos, Lombardi, Neal? It's a hard team to make.

Now that the NHL playoff picture is pretty square, here's who I'd like to see/expect to see named to the U.S. squad:

Goaltenders (x3):

Ryan Miller
Craig Anderson
Jonathan Quick

Defensemen (x8):

Keith Ballard/John-Michael Liles
Matt Greene/Jack Johnson
Ron Hainsey/Zach Bogosian
Tom Gilbert/Matt Niskanen

Forwards (x12):

Dustin Brown-Tim Connolly-Jason Pominville
David Booth-Paul Stastny-Jason Blake
Drew Stafford-Peter Mueller-Kyle Okposo
Nick Foligno-Paul Gaustad-Patrick O'Sullivan

Injury Summary for Canada:

Vincent Lecavalier (wrist)
Ryan Smyth (Broken right hand)
Brent Burns (concussion, hasn't played since March 5th)

And it's true that Bouwmeester might not risk playing without a contract. Unless Hockey Canada is willing to pay for insurance for him in case he got a career ending injury.

if Nashville, Minnesota are out, and Anaheim, St. Louis are in... here are my USA, Canada teams for the

worlds...assuming injuries like Smyth, Legwand, Lecavalier, Burns

USA:

Stafford Connely Pominville (advantage to have natural linemates or teammates)
Booth Stasny Malone
Blake Mueller Brown
Shannon Gaustad Okposo (Gaustad has size, 2 way center)

extras: Weight, Modano, Stempniak, Foligno

Liles Gilbert
Suter Bogosian
Hainsey Ballard

extras: Niskanen, Preissing, J Johnson, Yandle

Ryan Miller
Anderson
Quick

Canada:
(excess of centers better than a lot of available wingers so move 3 centers to wing)

Heatley Spezza St. Louis (Ottawa linemates)
Sullivan Arnott Dumont (Nashville linemates)
Roy Ribeiro Doan
Little White Horton (Atlanta linemates)

extras: Stamkos, Lombardi, Moore, Hunter

Weber Bouwmeester
McCabe Phillips
Souray Jovanovski

extras: Campoli, Rivet, Bergeron, Doughty, Schenn

Roloson
Turco
Harding

** in a short tournament with little practise, it is great to keep linemates together from their club teams or even put teammates on the same line**

Max played pretty well at the end of the season and has a good history with the NT. Still, he could be a liability.

So, figure Bykov can leave about 3 spots open?

For the German team, Alexander Sulzer will not play as he has a serperated shoulder. I skimmed through and did not see that.

For the Czechs, Martin Erat has a broken leg and while Ive seen no confirmation of his playing status in a few weeks I would be will to bet he is doubtful at best for the Tournament.

David Legwand is also injured and while he may have recovered I still doubt he plays for the US team.

Dang. Makes sense about Prucha, I guess, but I was hoping to watch him.

Do you think there's any chance he makes the Olympic team? Will it depend on how his season goes next year? I feel bad for him that he hurt his knee last time and couldn't play. It would suck if that was his only shot.

Looks good, obviously with first round losers we'll see who's added.

It will be interesting to see if Miller chooses to rest the ankle which was still bothering him at the end of the season or go (also knowing the implications of doing so on his Olympic status). Also, I wouldn't count out Robert Esche for a goaltender spot, he's been on past national teams.

What about Halpern? If he's healthy, you have to think he gets a spot just for the leadership he brings. Also a veteran on the national team.

I guess I shouldn't really be shocked, but I thought it might be Ruff as assistant and Trotz as head, but either way the decision is pretty obvious. Good to see Tippet in there, its nice that Canada is branching out a bit, its nice to see that its not always the Old Boys Club.

Hopefully they get together here soon and start making some decisions.

Comments from the Oilers locker cleanout day - http://oilers.nhl.com/team/app/?serv...ticleid=418114

Dwayne Roloson (Canada): has spoken to Team Canada, will say yes if asked
Sam Gagner (Canada): hasn't heard anything
Shawn Horcoff (Canada): has been asked just today so he hasn't decided yet
Robert Nilsson (Sweden): hasn't heard anything, has some injuries but indicated it would be difficult to say no if asked
Ales Kotalik (Czech Republic): working on insurance due to UFA status but he will join the team as long as that's taken care of
Ales Hemsky (Czech Republic): wasn't asked about it by reporters/didn't comment, at least not in the audio clip
Patrick O'Sullivan (US): on the team
Tom Gilbert (US): on the team
Denis Grebeshkov (Russia): on the team

No comment from Sheldon Souray but he has already said he would say no due to family commitments.
