Don't forget to add Brewer to that list.

Brewer ( 4.25 mil per until 10/11 )
McKee ( 4 Mil per until 09/10 )

Could probably get Mckee for free, and brewer would more that likely not require much to get. We have a logjam of defensemen, both in St. Louis and Peoria. And that is not counting if any kids actually make the jump to the NHL, that are not already here.

If it's a high price for leaf's defensemen, I doubt dallas would be that interested, as they dont really have many assets to trade. I feel like they will target cheaper players through trade and possibly sign a UFA.

I'm sure dallas would love redden on re-entry or if he is bought out, but that wont happen until '10-'11.
true. Kaberle's price is one piece too high (1st, top prospect, good roster player). Kubina would also cost probably a 1st and he's a higher contract. White also probably won't go because Burke turned down a 2nd for him twice at the deadline. the only option from the Leafs is an injury prone Van Ryn. basicly you'll want to contact every other team for help first lol.

Jason Smith is done. He can barely play a number 6 role competently these days.

The Hurricanes will trade Kaberle, Wallin, or Seidenberg for 2 pucks and some tape.

But Seriously,
Tim Gleason
Dennis Seidenberg
Chad LaRose
2nd round pick
for
Trevor Daley
Matt Niskanen
Steve Begin

Well Leafs fans would, definitely.

But I'd feel pretty damn upset that my team got completely ripped off in the deal.

Dallas does not need a defensemen unless the defensemen they are to acquire is an elite or at least first pairing guy. Dallas has no need for any lower pair dmen at all.

The Stars can't afford to trade with an all-star defensman. If they want one Jay-Bo is available. We need to replace a gap that Norstrom left when he retired. In other words we need a defensive specialist.

Someone mentioned Brewer. Aside from his contract what's this guy like?

Pretty solid all around D-man, but his contract is too costly and he's a captain that shouldn't be(IMO). The letter is, I think, too much of a burden on a guy that is best as a support player. It shows in his play and he'd benefit from a change.

This is wrong year to be looking for FA D-men... other than Ohlund + JayBo there isn't top-pairing type (Scotty + Zubov I don't consider available).

Now goalies on the other hand - there are plenty of! And forwards too.

Brewer is a solid #2-4 dman. Don't put him in a #1 role for 25+ minutes a night every night and you guys would be happy with him. He's given far too large of a role and the guy goes out there and battles but he just can't do it all. His injury may be a concern but if he recovers he's worth his salary. Apparantly he's a great locker room guy since it was the players that chose him to wear the C not management. If you want a shorter term solution in a defensive specialist McKee wouldn't cost much to acquire but his 4 mil might be hard to swallow. He's a damn steady d-man who blocks a ton of shots. I'm sure you guys could get a much cheaper figure out of him on a resigning after next years contract.

Rozsival for a 2nd round pick.

Solid #2/3 defenseman who is only overpaid by about a million or 750K or so.

Good two-way guy, but streaky at times.

When he's on his game, he looks like a true #1.

When he's off, he's more of a #4.

Definitely has a lot of talent to work with. If you can get him to shoot the puck more, he'd be a huge asset as his shot is fantastic.

And if he signs with another team oh well, tough luck for us.

I proposed the same thing (+ J. Lundqvist just for kicks) at the beginning of this thread and was completely ignored. Rozsival is definitely underrated around here, but I can understand why.

Alexei Semenov, Derek Joslin and a 2nd for Morrow, Eriksson and Neal? Sharks will toss in Tomas Plihal or Claude Lemieux for your 1st, too, if you need more forward help.
