Watch the video again. Malkin cleary initiates the contact. If Simmonds somehow magically skated his head into Malkin you think there would be that same impact??? Hell no it wouldn't even be talked about right now. Unnecessary?? Yes. Suspension worthy?? Hell no

Maybe it's just homer talk, but I don't really see Malkin's fault here. There was nothing he could have done, unless he wanted to stop, turn, and skate the other way, hence giving Simmonds a skating lane and a shot at the puck.
Lets call a spade a spade here. It looks like he goes right at his head rather than the taking the puck. Simmonds didn't just run into him like a doofus.

I don't think he went out of his way to hit Simmonds in the head. Simmonds was stretching for the puck and his head was down. Malkin just hit him.

Was it necessary? No. But it's hockey and it's legal so I see nothing wrong with it.

Is it an elbow? No. Is it a headshot? Yes. And if they're serious about taking headshots out of the game, he'll be suspended. If they're all talk and no muscle, he'll continue doing the same thing.

I think this was more of a headhunt than other clean headshots but i don't think it is quite suspendible, it is a fringe hit just because of the circumstances and malkin's clear intent to at least bowl into simmonds

People who think he will be suspended are dreaming. Star players won't get suspended for this kind of stuff

Kings fans here. It was clean (meaning no elbow), and also a cheap shot and unprofessional.

What's worse is he skated off like a little b***h when challenged on it. We don't get to see Malkin much out west, is he always such a p****y?

I'll be looking for some payback to his melon next time these two teams face each other. Hopefully he won't get hurt too bad, that would be sad.

Malkin has been building himself a bad reputation. This wouldn't be the first time in the past couple months.

Not like a doofus, no.

Wayne is listed at one inch shorter than Malkin. He tried to hit him with his head down, and there was impact, as there should be when two guys that big collide going at pretty high speed.

Malkin's arm stayed tucked, and Simmonds hit his head on/above his elbow.

I don't see the incident.

Maybe someone should teach Simmonds how to skate with his head up.

Also, that hit was in the Pens' defensive zone. Maybe Simmonds shouldn't be so aggressive on the forecheck with 14 seconds left.

They really need to protect aggressive forecheckers who skate with their head down!

If you look at it, Malkin doesn't even extend his elbow outward towards Simmonds' face... he just braces himself for the collision.

Its not even that bad of an incident to warrant a suspension.

Yeah, because Malkin's gonna throw down the fisticuffs with Ivanans after the Pens got finished laying a 60 minute ass beating on Ivanans and the Kings.

Where was Simmonds at the end of the game? What a little b***h having Ivanans stick up for him!

SIDNEY CROSBY CUT ME OFF IN TRAFFIC THE OTHER DAY. I DEMAND 10 GAMES AND A FINE, AND HIS FIRST BORN.

Oh, and clean. Necessity debatable but he stayed on his feet, elbow down while he loaded and...oh yeah...this is hockey.

The Doug Weight hit was similar. Malkin did try to hit him but to all the haters, it's ice hockey not figure skating. Sure it was at the end of a decided game but guys give shots to players like Simmonds all the time when they do ridiculous stuff like the slash/spear on Cooke.

I don't think Simmonds touched the puck. Malkin knocks it away.
