Pomniville for Smyth

Obviously Smyth would have to agree to come to buffalo, however, he could be the type of personality the locker room needs.

Perhaps Buffalo could throw in Tallinder to get a prospect or pick back?

Colorado is the last place team in the west. They want to get better, not worse. Smyth is by far the best player this season. Besides him and Hejduk they have no proven top 6 wingers. I dont see how Pominville is a good deal.

No thanks.

Smyth is the leader in the room for the Avs, a gritty warrior and great player.

Since I don't really like any of the Sabres prospects or Pominville much, would take a lot more then the Sabres would be willing to pay to get me on board.

From an outsider's point of view, Colorado makes this trade and then runs away laughing.

Smyth's contract is an albatross.

I agree. Pominville hasnt reached his potential, while Smyth is on the decline

Yeah, great deal for Avs. I don't see why Buffalo would want his contract back.

Why do Avs want Pominville? Besides saying Smyths contract is horrible is there an actual reason?

If I were you, I'd take it. Pominville is younger, less ugly, better and his contract doesn't suck... well, as much as Smyth's does.

ignoring contract and term, i would want smyth on my team for the next 3 years over pomminville.

Smyth is signed for 3 years @6.25
Pomminville is signed for 5 years @5.3

the question is then: will the avs be a playoff team within 3 years or not? If giguere thinks they will be, I'd keep smyth. If not, save the money and take pomminville.

I don't see why Buffalo makes this trade. They should focus their attention to getting rid of Taillinder, and Hecht. 3.5 for a player that's hit the 50 point mark twice and a defencemen's that's on the decline aren't cap friendly.

I agree, with that being said Ranger fans should be jumping at the idea to trade gomez for Pommer if this is the value.

I don't see how Tallinder is on the decline and he's off the books after next season. They have plenty of defensemen in the pipeline so they'll ride him out for the season to give the youngsters some more time before making them play big minutes.

I wouldn't mind seeing Pominville traded for an upgrade in intensity / moxie but his value is at an all time low and I personally believe that this season was an aberration.

I like Smyth and I like Pominville, but I don't think either team runs away with a better deal.

For a $1m more a year, I think the intangibles that Smyth brings are worth it. Like I said, both players are fantastic.
