Luca will be higher next year, not basing this on anything, just a hunch

He also won't be a rookie next year, therefore, not on the list.

wouldnt he still be a rookie? considering Parent is even on that list and he's been around for a couple years? and Luca only played x amount of games.

EDIT: had no idea Ryan's only played 44 games

40 games is the cutoff for rookie status right?

No, for a rookie, I think it's 25 or 28.

It's 25.

Parent had 1 the season he got here and 22 games last season so he's still technically a rookie.

I wonder what I am thinking of for the 40 games played thing then.

O well.

40 games on the roster knocks off a year toward becoming an UFA.

Anyone else thinks Dougherty needs to be higher? The whole top 20 needs to be fixed.

agreed. Mason should be #1 though, he has carried that team

am i the only one who thinks that parent should be ranked higher than sbisa? it's no coincidence that he's on the first pairing

depends on the criteria, Parent is obviously better defensively right now but Sbisa has a much higher upside

What's most suprising is the fact that Pekka Rinne (aside from SO) has better numbers than Mason. Rinne also has a far cooler name.

In regards to the Parent-Sbisa debate. I think in the long run they should be paired together. Sbisa is the flashier of the two with the offensive flair and Parent will be a great stay at home shutdown defender. I'm very very happy that we have them both!

giroux placed pretty damn high for getting called up late in the yr... i'm surprised parent isn't a little higher, but he doesn't score a lot so that could be the reason

Yea I thought he was kind of high, but the hype around him and the moves and therefore attention hes been getting (Flyers are on national TV every other game these days) helped him to get there. Had he he been there from the start, he would be top 10.

I don't know. Remember he got off to kind of a bad foot in the preseason? It took him time to find his game, and I'm absolutely thrilled at what the result of 1/2 a season of AHL time has done. He looks completely different to the Giroux running around scared in the preseason.

Honestly I don't care about rankings. He was always rated far too low as a prospect by any number of prospect ranking groups out there, including HF. He's defensively talented, and put up some incredible numbers in the QMJHL not to mention after he carried Gatineau to the Q championship with one of the most impressive points per games I've ever seen (his playoff numbers were right behind Mario Lemieux). Look at what Gatineau is doing without him...nothing. He turned quite a few of their players into high draft picks actually.

So I'm glad he took some time in the AHL. I'm equally glad he's showing the world what he can do now. Who cares about TSN's rankings.

Sbisa has the same upside that Seidenberg had. Parent is the real deal and anyone who's watched the two this year can see Parent having a better career, age aside.
Parent is a beast. I love how he handled Malkin.

totally agree about parent. my knock against him last season was that he was pretty soft for a large defensive defenseman. he definitely has had more of a snarl this year, which we really lacked on the backend without hatcher.

Sbisa and Seidenberg may have the same "upside," but Sbisa is about 10x more likely to get there.

Having a nice year: http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=51335

Sbisa has top pairing potential...and I won't be shocked to see him get there in the next 5 years.

26 points so far? Good for him! Always had a soft spot for the guy (as I tend to have for most Germans for whatever reason).
