I think they'll trade him, probably to either Halifax or Shawinigan

Yeah, having the future first overall pick playing for your team is generally good for business.

Not only do they have no reason to do that, they are probably not capable of doing it without Grigorenko's permission.
One would assume that he'll have a NTC, like all other CHL players of his caliber.

So?
He's a high pedigree player and players like him have NTC's.

Not like it matters though, since we will never hear the details of the contract and they won't be trading him.

Patrick Roy isn't stupid.

I mean why the hell would he trade a future top NHL draftee?

Yeah, the Yotes will blow. And I truly hope he doesn't end up there...although it might be good for the team in the long run if he has an Ovechkin type presence.

I think having 15th overall guy plus plus is better for the junior organization considering 1st overall is guaranteed to last for only 1 year.

I would rather 2-3 years of a high quality mid to late 1st round guy plus some later round talent than a junior superstar for only 1 year.

What about having it all? A junior superstar (Grigorenko) and several years of late first rounders? (Erne, Sorensen, Duclair)

Well Quebec has plenty of type of guys you mentioned so if Mikhail Grigorenko is only in Quebec for one year its ok since they have Erne, Sorensen, Duclair

Grigorenko won't be able to join the team until the end of next week... at best. The usual visa problems. The camp starts on Monday. He'll miss the first week and probably the first two preseason games on August 19th and 20th.

These Russian kids never seem to learn.

DON'T GO TO THE CHL!!!!!

Grigorenko officially and willingly destroyed his own hockey career.

He could have been one of the best.

I was wondering how long it'd take for the anit-CHL crew to come out. Pretty funny to say the least.

I'm not anti CHL but pro Russia. If these kids would develop better in the CHL I would be happy to see them go there. But this is not the case.

Sure sounds like you are. Who was the last Grigorenko type talent (potential 1st overall) to come over to the CHL and 'destroy his hockey career'? The CHL is a great developmental league for Europeans, just look at Landeskog, a player who increased his value tenfold over the past few seasons.

Landeskog developed well in the OHL, but he was a huge talent long before that. No one knows how good he´d been in Djurgården.
