It's the biggest secret for me as well. Maybe U18 WC will help him
Last year in MHL he was outscoring Khokhlachev and Yakupov, who though had a shorter stint in this league.
And his shooting-% is through the roof the second season in a row. He does profit a lot from Gusev's playmaking, and recently from Grigorenko's, I guess? but nonetheless very impressive stat.
and it's not that he wouldn't score in international competition a well.
I keep guessing what secret down side he's hiding.
I put together some clip of Grigorenko highlights this MHL season. Grigorenko had a good rookie season 35 points in 43 games and are now playing in the playoff 5 point in 8 games. Remember he play as a 16 year old in a league were most player are 19-21 years old...
how does he compare at the same age to filatov, radulov, cherepanov, kuznetsov?
The problem is that when all these guys were 16 years old there was no MHL. But as far as I know he is expected to be the next russian superstar(just like Yakupov). His stats for his first season in MHL, especially on such team as Red Army which has a very deep roster, are very good, he even scored a hat-trick in the last game of regular season. But I don't want to overhype the kid. I think we should wait for the next season.

You can certainly see the potential in that guy. He's a 1994 playing against alot of '90 and '91s? Wow!
im really excited to see how he does compared to the top Canadian, American and Swedish players. I wish i could watch more of him he is an intriguing prospect
Not surprisingly, forwards are expected to be the best part of team Russia. The squad will ice some players who can be easily thought as some of the tournament's top players.
Mikhail Grigorenko is most likely the most-chatted-about player. The 2012 draft eligible center is going most likely to play in the first line and is expected to score a lot. Grigorenko is a playmaking center with enormous talent in the skills and skating areas and will most likely be a threat every time he is on the ice. He is a strong candidate for a first round selection during next year's entry draft. Grigorenko will play side to side with Nikita Kucherov, his team mate with the CSKA Moscow junior team. Kucherov is another very good player with great offensive skills, but, differently from Grigorenko, his little size might harm his attractiveness in sight of the next draft. Kucherov is not only a fantastic offensive player, who takes full advantage of his skills, skating and shot, but is also a leader and captain of the Red Army junior team, despite being three to four years younger than most of his teammates. Team Russia fans should expect a lot of points from him, especially during the powerplay.
him and Yakupov look better than Filatov, Cherepanov but i dunno if a team would take him first. has he said anything about playing in NA?
Cherepanov was clutch! Grigorenko is awesome, but 5 points with Slovakia mean nothing. Let's see what the team does against better opposition. Btw don't misread my words. I'm skeptical toward the team and the coach, not about our 4 stars (Grigs, Yakupov, Kucherov, Shalunov)

I believe that Russian goaltender Vasilevskiy has a bright future too.

yes I was talking about forwards only. In defense we have also Nesterov and to some extent Yarullin who are good players. Vasilevski is good, but he's 17, it's hard to predict now.
