Supposablely Serge Savard made a huge offer to the pens before draft day to try and get the #1 pick, but Pittsburgh said they would not trade the pick for ANYTHING, so......
I remember that draft. It was pretty exciting. Savard's best draft ever IMO. He supposedly made a huge offer for the No 1 pick but apparently Pittsburgh came back with impossible demands. The whole fate of the franchise depended on the pick and Lemieux was clearly the saviour.

The look on Svoboda's face when he was introduced to the media was priceless. He looked terrified...lol

Do you recall the talk that supposablely the Bruins were set to select Svoboda with their first pick, or they were trying to move up to select him, on the thought that they could get him out of Czech., something other teams supposablely didn't know, not realizing that Montreal had already gotten him into the country.

I'm a little hazzy on the details of how that all went down. Do ya recall that????

By the way, Richer, Roy and Corson aren't bad.
Svoboda isn't bad either, if i'm not mistaken he's the Czech-born player who played the most NHL games and the Czech-born D-man with the most points. Althought that doesn't mean he's good, it certainly means he's not bad!
