Yes, (and it's not even close).

Canada is rather weak at high-end wingers. They have the best group of centers in the world but very few quality wingers. You could see as many as 4 centers converted to wings for Team Canada in 2010.

Since he's a winger he definitely would. Not taking that into account, it'd be close, but he'd still probably make it.

Even if he has Duel Citizenship, he has already played for the US in Int. Competition meaning he could not play for Canada or anywhere else.

If he were able to play, he would make any roster.....

The wing is their weakest position sure, but they are still arguably deeper there then any other country.

Russia has Kovalchuk and Ovechkin, Semin.
Canada has Iginla(Art Ross trophy winner, 2 time rocket richard winner 50 goal guy), Heatley(50 goal guy), Cammalleri(40 this year?), St. Louis(has won league mvp and capable 40 goal guy), Gagne(capable 50 goal guy), Whitney(ppg guy), Nash(rocket richard winner 40 plus goals), Doan(ppg guy).. but yeah probably 2-3 of those guys i just mentioned won't even make the team.

He's the second or third best winger in the NHL.

Yes, he would make Team Canada, and it wouldn't be a tough choice for Yzerman and Co. to make.

Uh, yes? He's arguably the best winger in the NHL after Ovechkin/Iginla.

I voted Yes, but I want to take that back. The Canadian selection committee would be too dumb to pick him. They would pick Trever Linden over him.

considering the fact that he is leads all canadians in goal scoring, and is 2nd in scoring among canadians, im pretty sure he would. But he wont, cuz he's American. Honestly, the only Canadians Id take ahead of him are crosby, iginla, thornton.

The selection committee would **** it up.. just like how they didn't invite Sid to the olympics

Definitely a veteran bias going on with that

canada has some depth but zach parise would be on a line there directly

strangely, with all that depth, canada still misses out a lot in the choice making around who and who's not going to make the team ...

if i'm not mistaken here [and trust me i'm not] todd bertuzzi, shane doan and kris draper! made the team canada roster for the olympics in turin, italy, in 2006 instead of eric staal, jason spezza and sidney crosby ...

the result? canada finished 7th behind the 6th placed switzerland

a nutcracker would have figured out that role players in the nhl like kris draper is unnecessary and close to useless when it comes to open ice international hockey

so who's in for 2010?. shane doan is there [until he retires], shea weber? ... please lecavalier and st. louis?

Luckily for Team USA he's already played for them in the WC.

A good thing too. The US clearly doesn't have Canada's depth. We're going to need him.

Not good enough to make the top two lines not big enough to make the bottom two

Hate to break it to you but Doan is probably going to the 2010 team over Spezza and probably Staal.

i'm not a hardcore fan of team canada and if yzerman takes doan in front of staal it's his problem

i don't have a problem with it really, the other teams facing canada wont have a problem with it

but canada would be a better team with staal instead of doan

... no matter you finished 7th last time around

Canada's biggest weakness for years in best-on-best tournaments has been the wing. It's why we usually convert a couple centres to wing during the tournament.

For whatever reason, we produce lots of great centres, lots of great goalies, and we're starting to churn out high-end defencemen again. (Green, Phaneuf, etc). But we still struggle to find the top notch centres.

If Parise wanted to play for Canada, and if he could remain at this high level, he'd be a lock. With his work ethic, his fearlessness and his ability to finish plays and score goals in tight, he'd be a perfect fit on a line with Joe Thornton.

Not really. Staal would be a 4th line winger (not his natural position) on team Canada. Why not have a guy who can hit, PK, and provide energy a lot better in that spot which won't get as much TOI. Oh and Doan has the same amount of points of Staal as well. It paid off in 2002 to have a checking line and next year they'll probably try the same thing with players like Doan, Richards, and Morrow.

He is one of the top 3 guys at his position in the world so there is really no roster he wouldn't make. He is exactly the kind of player you want, from what I have seen of him.
