I am a fan of neither team. As a hockey fan, I loved McCabe CLEARING THE CREASE of Briere. That's hockey....and just one very small part of an awesome regular season game. And any coach would love McCabe's action, too.

To those questioning the "ditiness" of every single player since the Bertuzzi incident: You are either new to the sport, which is understandable; looking to incite on this board; or lacking a basic knowledge and/or appreciation of the game. If that criticsim stings, then it must apply.

Rest assured, it's no more painful than this ceaseless micro-analysis about this hit or that hit.

It's the game of hockey. Don't like the perceived "dirtiness"? Change the channel or burn your tickets.

He's fought when challenged. Can you name a couple of other #1 dmen who fight more than him?

After the whistle, it's clean?

Anyway, McCabe is fond of elbows to the face as well.

Can we have a discussion without the Leafs or the Leaf players being brought up.

Thanks in advance

I could not agree with you more...

McCabe is an over rated defenseman and is not even worth mentioning when it comes to the best defensman in the league...Because he is not even close...

That would be true if you completely ignored is stats this year. The problem is, people hate McCabe because he's effective.

I knew there was a reason why I always respect your opinion Trotts, even if you are an Isles fan.

You can fault McCabe for some questionable actions in the past but this was nothing to get upset over.

Before the NHL banned the canopener, which IMO is a dirty move, McCabe was a dirty defenseman. But now that McCabe doesn't do it anymore, he's not as bad in my book.

So, is McCabe a dirty player? I would say yes, he's an example of what shouldn't be allowed in this league.

Wow you scouted a whole two games.... seems like you really are an expert in this area.

give me a break - McCabe is a Norris candidate this year and you're saying that he shouldn't be allowed in this league?

Oh yes, I remember he's dirty because he broke Brendl collerbone on clean hit...if you keep your head down, you're gonna get nailed, deal with it!!!!

Sens fans make me laugh.

There was one incident this year where Hossa got hit with a McCabe elbow, and all of a sudden, Bryan is "fond of elbows", just as Nolan is "fond of hitting from behind" because he had one questionable hit this year on Spezza.

You ain't fooling anyone.

That's my opinion.

then imo your opinion really needs some more depth or you have to use a different word/phrase than *fond of*, as you're disrespecting the players by labelling them after single incidents..

Fair enough, I respect your opinion.

I take exception to the 'clown' comment, though.

Damn right! That's why I was so happy when Chara shook him like a damn puppet earlier this year. Now, THAT was funny!

FYI, Here's Mccabe's fight card:
This year:
Sean Avery, Joe Thorton
Last year:
Martin Lapointe, Adam Mair
One more year back:
Ethan Moreu, Jason Arnott, Todd Fedoruk
A year before:
Wayne Primeau, Brendan Shanahan, Barnaby, Kubina, Len Barrie.

Over the same period, Scott Stevens fought 6 times. Half as much as Brian.

Nice try.

What thread are you reading?

His comment was in response to the post that said "McCabe is fond of elbows to the head".

Spin doctors, unite.

Answer: Sheldon Souray (At least this year)

Don't mean to slight McCabe here because I like the guy. Nonetheless, Souray has fought at least 4 times this year. Granted, at least one was an angry waltz. But, I recall him tearing O'Donnell a new backside in another. Also, he deserves an honourable mention (or is it dishonourable mention?) for fighting after major wrist surgery. Admittedly, this stat only applies for this year, and you can bet management doesn't want this trend to continue.
