Can we pass NYR & CAR?

Time to look forward and not behind:

Rangers upcoming games:

NYR @ PITT
NJD @ NYR
NYR @ CAR <- hopefully not a 3 pt game
NYR @ BOS
MON @ NYR
PHI @ NYR
NYR @ PHI

Carolina's otoh has 4 of 7 of their last games at RBC:

CAR @ NJ
NYR @ CAR
PITT @ CAR
NYI @ CAR
BUF @ CAR
CAR @ NJD

We need a minimum 4 wins in our last 7 what do you think?

Carolina's last games are all away from RBC:

CAR @ NJ
CAR @ NYR
CAR @ PITT
CAR @ NYI
CAR @ BUF
CAR @ NJD

Carolina still has 4 games at home out of 6.

I don't know where you got that idea from but it's wrong. In fact they play 4 of their last 6 at home.

We win our game in hand and we are ahead of the Rangers in the standings due to the season series tie-breaker, so it is definitely very possible.

I also think we can overtake Carolina if we play well in the final 8, that Carolina schedule is really hard.

Plus, I think we can pass NYR but not Carolina so that would leave us facing NJ. I would rather face Boston thank you. So although it would look "better" to finish higher I don't think we can reach 6th. It is best if we remain 8th and hope Florida and Buff don't catch, mind you we can still win games but hope we stay 8th.

Lets try and finish as high as we can, we don't control who we play at this point. Keep winning and see where it takes us.

I definitely think the Habs will pass the Rangers, in fact with the Rags schedule I wouldn't be all that surprised to see them drop out of the playoffs. Carolina is on fire right now so that will be a tougher task but who knows. You guys are on the right track, two in a row, just gotta keep it going.

do we rly want that and end up facing NJ ? hehe maybe it'd be better to finish 8th and fight the Ruins. The most overated in the last 10,000 years.

I thought the first tie-breaker is the "win"?

If we can catch up against Carolina, the Devlis may aswell catch up against the Ruins.

We'd have the same number of wins.

Catching CAR will be tough, we'd need to win our games in hand and even that won't be enough because they hold the tie-breaker. We need to go on a big streak and they need to stumble a bit. Pittsburgh is doable, 3pts ahead but we have a game in hand and we hold the tie-breaker.

Oh yeah, my bad. I thought the Rangers has two wins more than us.

I'd rather finish 8th, play the Bruins, and hopefully the 7 and 8th teams in the west go on killer winning streaks, and then we end up with a decent draft pick this summer.

I'm actually hoping we get the last pick in the first round of the draft.

I would think so. I would love to move up to at least 6th if not 5th to play the Flyers to make up for last year.

I think what's more important for our team is that they play well in their last 8 games. If we can finish with at least 5-6 wins and get our game in the right direction, I don't really care whether we finish 5, 6, 7, 8... you can say we have a better chance against team A or B or whatever, but the truth is that we have the best chance if our team is playing its A-game... period.

Only thing I know is I don't want to face NJ in the first round.
