Organizing a pick up game

So, first let me apologize for possibly putting this in the wrong section, but wasnt really sure where else to put this.

Is anybody interested in either an ice or roller pick up game (ice at The Pavillion, or Roller in some brooklyn schoolyard)? Id absoloutly love to organize this and if anyone is interested or has any ideas, lets discuss.

Players who will play:

Steve - Roller or Ice
Levski - Roller
Manic - Roller - will drive to BK
Escudero - Roller?
Lotus - Ice LI and Surrounding areas
Balej20 - Roller? LI only?
BRONX_MADNESS - Ice @ Chelsea
ImmortalRanger - Ice @ Chelsea
Staalwart - Roller
Hipster Doofus- Roller
trueblue9441 - Roller or Ice
4morecups- Roller 25 mins from Baldwin
qwertyaas- Roller I'm in Queens so LI or any surrounding boroughs really, if it isn't too far of a drive that is
Ice Hockey -Roller or Ice *lives in CT*
DevsFan84 -Roller or Ice

Theres a few schoolyards around me that can accomodate a full game, and Ive been fairly good friends with one of the guys that run the Fort Hamilton Roller Hockey league, so we might be able to rent thier "ice" for a few hours.

As for Ice, theres open hockey at The Pavillion from 11 pm - 1 am on saturday nights. We could get a few drivers to carpool out there. I believe its 16$ a person, goalies are free.
Theres also Aviator which I believe is 20$ a person also we could carpool
Chelsea, which I believe is 25$ a person, we could take the train.

in anycase, let me know if anybody would be willing to do this.

Haha, steve. I'll do the roller hockey even though I'm a total beginner on the hockey aspect of it.

Well I play roller hockey for my college. We play in a league called the ECRHA, but I live out on Long Island, if any of you guys live out on the island or near it there's also a rink by me called SkateSafe America, it's off exit 49S of the LIE. They have open skates on fridays (not entirely sure what time) and I think its like $15 or so per person and it's like 3 hours long or something like that. I'd prolly make the ride out to Brooklyn with some friends just to play cause that's how I am hahaha. But yeah we should def like get people who live near eachother and start a rec league team and call it TEAM HF lol

Edit: Feel free to PM me if you wanna set up anything like that or want directions to the rink, or for any info at all!

well I dont drive, but a few of my hockey friends do, so transportation shouldnt be a problem as long as they are willing to play.

what college has roller hockey? I wish mine had it :/

sofar its just me, Levski (lives near me), and you. Ive got a few buddies that I skate around with that would play, and 1 goalie (my brother) who may play if its on a non-work day (work days are any of the 7 days, so its a crapshoot with him)

I was hoping for a pretty good sized response from the Ranger board, because I was under the impression alot of ya played, but well see what happens in a few days. I think ill keep this idea rolling until this coming Sunday or Monday, so we can gauge how many people and if this is a possible idea. (and also to figure out where people live and whether its going to be ice or roller - my vote is for roller)

I play for Hofstra but surprisingly a buncha schools have hockey. it's mostly a club sport but dont let that fool you. We actually do a bunch of traveling for tournaments and stuff against all the other schools and then for playoffs you can go as far as like California (depends on what state is hosting regionals and nationals) it's a very good way to get better at hockey and also travel the country

I also go to Hofstra, and play for the Ice Hockey team here. I haven't played inline in over a year, and my skates would need laces and wheels....something I can't really drop the dough on right now (the wheels, not laces ). I'm totally down for any open ice hockeys that people want to meet up for.

Anyone who lives on Long Island live near, or know of Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa? I play at the outdoor rink there a lot. Maybe we can get some games going over there once the weather gets nicer.

If we're talking outdoor inline hockey, then I'm down since I wouldn't have to buy new wheels haha

If anyone knows where Long Beach Arena is, I'll be going there for this Fridays open hockey. It's 12:30am-2:00am. Late night style

ok so what im going to do is compile a list on the first post to gather who would play, and whether it would be ice or roller. All of those who will play please specify for me a few things:
Ice, Roller, or Either
Will you drive out to brooklyn if its roller?
Where you want to play if ice?
Can you drive non drivers if its anywhere other than chelsea?

Ice, Roller, or Either - Ice
Where you want to play if ice? - Anywhere on LI, the surrounding areas or slightly upstate N.Y. depending on the time.

What ever happened to the game that SmootHockeySpeed was trying to organize? That seemed promising, but obviously never came to fruition.

Man, I remember playing you guys when my college club team was in our inaugural season (NJIT '05). You came into our house and absolutely demolished us. Lots of fun...

I'm in for roller indoor or outdoor.

As far as location, I'm in Jersey and there are plenty of places to play here, but as long as we get a decent size game I'll make the trip to NY no problem.

You might want to search for the thread. I think he was trying to get a Rangers fans vs. Devils/Islanders fans game going. A bunch of people responded but then it just died. This was several months ago though.
