Recchi injured

It seemed funny at the time. Mark Recchi took a shot from Jeremy Roenick off the right foot, ruining a drill.

Everyone started laughing. "Good excuse to get off the ice," Recchi said.

Afterward, his foot swelled up like a balloon. Recchi was to have X-rays late yesterday to see whether anything was broken, but delayed doing so to see how he feels when he returns to Philadelphia today.

"It hurts," he said. Another serious injury is the last thing the Flyers need.
from the Inquirer

what the hell is going on? even having fun the Flyers players are getting hurt. they can't lose this guy for extended period of time.

relax. if its just bruised, no big deal as he might miss only a game or two. don't panic unless its broken. if its broken, i'll lead the panic parade

We are running out of warm bodies now.

Gagne - Zhamnov - Amonte
Leclair - Zeus - Radivojevic
Brashear - Lapoint - Kapanen
Fedoruk - Sharp - ?

That is not the line up of a contender. This is what we get for having such an old team.

Because a young player wouldn't be hurt by a puck to the face, slapshot off the foot, elbow to the head or unexpected hit from a teammate across an extended arm?

I would wait until tommorow before predicting the end of the world. Recchi is being evaluated tommorow so we should know more by then.

Recchi will give it a go tomorrow morning and see how he feels. If the foot feels ok skating in practice he will play against Toronto.

Mark Recchi, who took a slap shot in the foot during practice this week, will play.
This is definitely good news. He's been on offensive lynchpin all season.

McGuire was wrong. Funny thing is he is good friends with Mark so you think he would have called him for confirmation before making such a statement. There was never any word that it was broken. He hadn't had x-rays until today.
