Rangers Nominate Blair Betts for Masterson Trophy

http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/ho...s_mastert.html

Great for him. Unbelievable team player who should get more recognition than he does.

Outside of Henrik, the penalty kill lives and dies with Betts-Sjostrom. Thankfully, Torts understands the importance of having him so it'll be nice to have Betts for a few more years.

Excellent at his role.

Good for Bettzky. He's an integral part of our team, and an excellent teammate.

Good for Betts. As sportsmanlike as they come.

I thought it was the Writers Association that nominates him, not the Rangers...

Anyway... very well deserved.

Good for Bettsy! He is extremely valuable to this team. I know its unlikely and Bettsy does not put up big numbers but do you guys think he should be concidered a candidate for the Selke as well?

It's about time! Betts is by far and away the most under appreciated player on this team.

Betts is a great hockey player. He reminds me, for obvious reasons, of Pandolfo a couple years ago. Similar mold of a player.

Good for him. One of the harder workers on the team, and one of my favorites. Very well deserved!

Woops, you're right. I think I got confused between making a thread that said "Blair Betts selected as Rangers Nominee for Masterton" or "Pro Hockey Writer's Association Nominates Betts for Masterton" (which is too long, I thought).

Oh well, here's the link for the Rangers' site.

http://rangers.nhl.com/team/app/?ser...ticleid=415958

I would also have to think that Bettsy is ahead of at least Streit and Knuble, if not Eaton and Clemmensen.

Awesome, finally Betts starts getting the recognition he deserves. A fearless penalty killer and if it wasn't for Naslund/Gomez I'd like to see him wearing the A in the near future. Sather, you better lock him up!

It's the Masterton Trophy, not Masterson. Named after Bill Masterton.

I love Blair. He's so wise, like a miniature Buddha, riddled with phenomenal penalty killing instincts.

Pierre Mcguire is probably happy about this.

how does Betts shape up with the best defensive forwards we ever had?

Erixon? Luc Robitaille ? Jari Kurri?
