Phoenix is no longer in the picture for us. It's just Tampa and the Isles. Especially Tampa, who are only a point ahead of us.

Either way this is probably the only winnable game for us, so its nerve racking :p

I don't wish injury on anybody, but hallelujah!

It is exciting to see what some of these kids can do.

We're getting closer to an all Lake Erie D.

What is that 4/6 for tomorrow? I guess we have had that for a few games though seeing as Clark should be a Monster

These guys are still playing for a job, that player they're "tanking" to get could very well take their spot. The teams at the bottom of the standings truly belong there this year. A lot of them are suffering financial and fanbase problems, they don't need to suffer further by getting a low end pick (say, 8-14 range).
How do you explain the Islanders sending out the illustrious Brendan Witt to take the first shootout shot?

Earlier in the season I had hoped for Brett Clark to get injured. Now that it has happend, I don't feel the joy I had expected too.

It's terrible to wish an injury on someone but my God....couldn't Brett have had a migrane earlier in the season when it might've actually helped by removing him from the roster?

I'm going on the record here...The AVs have bought into the tank as much as some of us. There is absolutely no way these players are that injured. They are making excuses to call up kids. The only problem I have with it, is that they should've been doing this in December. They should've been benching the likes of Tyler and Clark and trying to figure out if there were kids in the system that wanted to play hard every night.

God I hope the Desert Dogs destroy us...not just because I want a great pick but I really want to see Wayne totally out-coach Tony tonight. We need another nail in his coffin.

Enough with the nails. I want this game to be the first shovel full of dirt. I remember when this board was split between pro and anti tankers. Glad we're all together on this Hedman thing.

In every situation you have to look at the bright side . Yes we have alot of injuries but it could be worst , Clark could be playing

McGratton is in rehab, too. He's not even injured.

I'm pissed that we never called Ledin up. At the very least, he could have brought some much needed character to this boring team. I can't see why he still hasn't been called up; it's not like he's expected to score, and we're in dead last as it is.

- The Avalanche have the opportunity to tie the franchise record for longest losing streak (8) against Phoenix tonight.
- A win tonight will put the Avalanche in a position to get the 3rd pick pre-lottery as we would pass Tampa Bay.
- The Avalanche have officially secured, at worst, the 8th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
- A loss tonight guarantees the Avalanche, at worst, the 6th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
- The 2008-2009 Avalanche are guaranteed to break the team low in points earned by at least 19 points.
- The 2008-2009 Avalanche are 10 goals-against away from tying a team record in a season (257)
- The 2008-2009 Avalanche need 20 goals to avoid setting a team low in goals-for in a season (212)

'Yotes are doing our best to match your tank job. Al Montoya is making his NHL debut in goal.

8-6 Phoenix.

Forgive me for not following a useless 4th liners injury status. I was way off with my statement; after all, he played two whole games.

4-4-2 in their last 10, with wins against Detroit, Chicago, and Montreal. The game before Montreal they put up 7 against the Devils. Who cares that they sent out Witt in one shootout, they're still playing hard and have some notable wins. They're just not a good team right now.

And like last game I'm betting Granato realizes how completely useless that trio is in about 5 minutes in and breaks it up.

It's funny, I would imagine in the EA world, that line would be freakin' awesome. Maybe that's how Granato puts together his lines!

Slightly modified version of what I posted on our own board, with apologies to Queen:

I've paid my dues
Time after time
Got season tickets
And I spent my last dime
Terrible Mutts teams
I've seen a few
But now we're in lottery position
So we've gotta come through!

Weeeeee are the losers, my friend
And weeeee'll keep on tanking to the end
We need Tavares
WE NEED TAVARES
No time for winning
'Cuz we are the losers... not the Avs!

The Avs are all hurt
But that's no excuse
You lost Sakic and Statsny and bunches of others
That's what tightened your noose
But we've sucked forever
And you've won a Cup
So we deserve to draft #1
Before our arena lease is up!

Weeeeee are the losers, my friend
And weeeee'll keep on tanking to the end
We need Tavares
WE NEED TAVARES
No time for winning
'Cuz we are the losers... not the Avs!
