Oilers Playoff Push Thread

Come and show your support for the Oilers. They are 5 points back of a playoff spot! If they make the playoffs, ALL 6 CANADIAN TEAMS make the playoffs increasing the chances of the cup comming back to Canada. Let's go CANUCKS! FLAMES! CANADIENS! SENATORS! LEAFS! OILERS! I don't care who wins the cup as long as one of those six teams win it all!

I really want the Oilers to make the playoffs. I have been cheering for them night in and out!! GO OILERS GO!!! I don't care who wins the cup as long as Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton win it. If Ottawa or Montreal win it, it's all good but the 4 I mentioned are my choices! GO OILERS!! They have what it takes!!

I'd love to see all 6 Canadian teams in the playoffs...But I'd also like to see Nashville and LA make the playoffs...so in the west, that means basically that Dallas has gotta go on a MAJOR skid and Edmonton has to get freakin WHITE HOT...and STL can keep playing marginal hockey...hehe....

Maybe I just want Dallas to lose because I'm afraid teh Canucks can't/don't match up well against them...ever.

While it would be nice, I just dont see the Oilers making it. They already pretty much have to go 8-2 AND hope two teams completely tank to even have a hope.

Pleasant fantasy though.

It's over for the Oilers. They just don't know they're dead yet. Edmonton has been in the playoffs lots, won the Cup numerous times, why should I care if they make it this year?

Personally, I'm pulling for Nashville. They've got some great players, have worked really hard, and great guys like Scott Walker who've *never* played a playoff game in his life. They deserve it.

It's not nearly as big a stretch as some people are thinking (unlikely, yes... done like dinner, no.)

If the next 10 games continue as the last 10 have for all the teams involved, the Oilers would be in there.

If Nashville plays .500 hockey like they did in their last ten, They finish with 89 points. LA woud finish at 91. St. Louis at 88.

If Edmonton continues their unlikely .750 play, they would be at 90. So yes, you are correct.

However, one more loss, or one of Nashville or St. Louis winning one extra game and even near perfect play wont be enough.

Hey, I said it was unlikely.... but done like dinner? no. If it can happen over the last 10 games (where the oilers actually had a tougher schedule than the next ten), it can happen over the next ten.

Ah yes, keep the the hope alive, even when everyone around you realises it's over. Been there, done that.

sorry fellows

but I don't hold much hope for Edmonton. they're 4 points behind St. Louis, 5 behind LA who has 1 game in hand. but as you said, the Canadian teams can do some major damage come playoff time! there is no hotter team than Montreal right now (8-1-0-1). Flames will more than likely qualify as well. Leafs and Sens, altough they are struggling right now, have really good teams on paper. Hopefully Rucinsky + Sandersson will somewhat make up for Bert's loss. If my Ducks could make the Stanley Cup finals last season, then anything is possible But I doubt Sens and Nux will make it far in the playoffs though.

Well, It's actually the Kings and Preds that I think we have a shot at catching (3 points back as of now... hopefully the scores hold). Anyways, as I said you're probably all right about hope not being there, but whatever, its fun to see them try, and I really do think they have a chance, as 3 points is not that much to pick up, especially with three head to head against the teams we're chasing.

I hope the Oilers make it too, but I think it's too little too late. As mentionned, its a lot tougher when there is another team in between 8th and the Oilers. You need for the 8th place and 9th place teams to lose, and considering that some of them play each other down the stretch, its a tall order.

I really do hope they make it, because I live in Edmonton, and the atmosphere is insanely sick when the Oilers are in.
