Their likely opponent in the OHL final? The Brampton Battalion, a team that boasts THN Future Watch '09 cover boy Cody Hodgson (Vancouver), consensus 2009 No. 3 draft pick Matt Duchene and Russian demon Evgeni Grachev, who has become so good so quickly, not even the New York Rangers will be able to ruin him (like every other Blueshirts prospect not named Marc Staal). In net, Detroitís top pick from 2008, Thomas McCollum. But the Wings donít know anything about drafting, right?

Oh come on, we have 4 players not named Staal on this team who we certainly didn't ruin... and they are the biggest reason we are up 3-1 on Washington right now.

The Hockey news draft is almost always a bit of a mess. I don't think they rated Dubinsky very highly the year we took him in the 2nd round. That's another player we ruined I suppose.

Brampton and Grachev will be playing for the OHL championship as they beat the Bulls 7-4 tonight.

Grachev with a goal and an assist.

Through 16 games Grachev has 11 goals and 13 assists for 24pts (Duchene has 23pts and Hodgson has 27pts)

Thats awesome! I am super pumped to see this guy next year at camp. I hope he works out and stays healthy over the summer. If he can add some muscle to his lower body(not saying he doenst have a lot already but more never hurts) he could be a pretty good NHLer as soon as next year.

C'on Grachev..win the championship and move onto the Memorial Cup!!

Its going to be VERY tough for them though, unfortunately I think they lose in 5.

Windsor has been amazing this year. Counting the post season they're 69-13-1

That said, I get the feeling that Brampton has destiny on their side and take it in six. What ever the outcome, there is going to be a boat load of talent on the ice in this series and should be really fun to follow/watch.

In order for the troop to win this series, the big three are all going to have to step up big time.

That seems far fetched because they are all already playing very, very well and I don't know how much better they could possibly be.

No comments on Grachev's goal I posted above? He sizzled that shot right into the upper corner.

I didn't have anything to add, I thought the goal spoke for itself.

Kind of reminded me of that goal Ovie scored in game 4 right above Henrik's shoulder

Don't 4 teams make the Memorial Cup? Is there a slight chance Brampton can still make it if they lose?

Isn't the 4th team the host team? Or am i wrong? Rimouski is hosting it so I believe they are the the 4th team.

The only way Brampton could lose the Windsor series and get a bid to the Memorial Cup is if Brampton or Windsor were the host team.In 2007,Medicine Hat and Michael Sauer reached the Cup after losing the WHL finals to Vancouver which hosted the Cup.

That's interesting. Imagine if for example a weak team like Kingston was hosting the Cup. Save all your energy for the finals.

Grachev highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZudCG...e=channel_page

A sick no look pass to set up a Hodgson tip in and then an empty netter where he just bowls everyone in his way over.

Empty netter or not, he was absolutely flying on that play.

Evgeni Grachev also played in that loss to the Spitfires in Windsor but at that point he was struggling to find his game and his first goal. Six months, 40 regular-season goals and 11 playoff red lights later, Grachev has established himself as an absolute force in the O. At the under-20s in Ottawa he over-shadowed a Russian team-mate who was top-ranked in THN's Future Watch, Nikita Filatov. Straight ahead, in full flight, Grachev might be the fastest player in the league. A first option on PP and PK, you wouldn't recognize him today if you had only seen him against Windsor back in October.

I don't get the point with keeping this discussion up.

By this time next season we will all know if The Battleship Potemkin will raise the Art Ross Trophy or not just like Sidney Crosby did his rookie season. In 12 month we will know who was right and who was wrong, and up to that point its all speculation.

And the All-Star game will be a perfect opertunity for Grachev to prove that he have the best agility in the world.
