If the standings hold up (or relatively close) Pittsburgh would have the 19th pick in the draft.
To PIT: 38-40th pick (wherever we pick), 45th (compensation for not signing Plante, assuming we don't), Nilsson
To EDM: 19th pick (where hopefully one of Kassian, Ferraro or Glennie is still available)
Why PIT does it: In a deep draft year and with a somewhat depleted prospect pool, 2 cracks at a blue chipper might be better than 1. Add to that they get a guy high in skill (but questionable focus/commitment to both ends of the rink). Nilsson would instantly become the 3rd most skilled player on that team (behind the obvious 2).
Why EDM does it: Too many small skill guys to fit in the lineup with Omark coming over next year and Eberle being NHL ready the year after that. Ideally Kassian is still there at 19 and they answer a huge problem by gaining a physical player with some talent.
Kassian would be perfect for the Pens, so I don't see any reason they would trade their pick if he is available. Also, EDM will most likely have a higher pick then the Pens so they will have the 1st chance to take him (of the two teams in the proposal).
This would be the third straight 1st rounder that the Penguins have given up (Esposito and the 2008 first in the Hossa deal), and that's not a good way to build organizational depth.

I am an Edmonton fan and I think that it might take more than that to get a 1st this year. We do have a lot of young players that have potential but it would take more than that.
Pens have an early 3rd round pick and thus have 3 picks in the first 65. They don't need anymore.
And if Kassian is available, I guarantee the Pens take him. They'd be crazy to trade down. Imagine in a few years a line-up with Kunitz, Kassian, Tangradi, and Caputi.
