Lecavalier out for the remaining games

Team reports that he will have the surgery on his right wrist now. He's out the remainder of the season. He didn't seem to really be making an effort anyhow.

hopefully we will be back in form by next season. I think the "lack of effort" by him was a result of playing injured...

Just like that, we may have seen Vinny play his last game in a Lightning jersey.

But, he had the same bum wrist last season when he even led the league in scoring for a while....

He's been mailing it in for so long I probably won't notice that he's not even on the ice.

All the teams will know how well the surgery went way before July 1st.

I'm not at all surprised by this. I wish they had let him pack it in sooner, and this might help us pick up one of the top two picks...

He may have had the same wrist issue last season but such injuries can become progressively worse over time without treatment, especially with the physical demands of playing. I'm glad it is finally going to be addressed. I think there have been more things going on than just disinterest on Lecavalier's part as to his play of late.

Can someone explain how an injured wrist affects one's ability to skate?

Just wonder why now and not sooner?

Injury is no excuse for not giving an effort.

Is there any chance that he called off 6 games or so before the end of the season so that his salary would be afforted by the Insurances?

I don't know what the rules are for long term IR.

Im right there with ya woman. While Vinny has played halfa**ed the second half of this season, he's still Vinny and without him we are worse off than we already are.

Im glad hes having surgery now so he can rest up and be at the top of his game in TAMPA next season.

Agreed!

In all seriousness though, this is long overdue. He has not been the same this season, and all of us have been speculating the whole way along. He is and has been hurting, shouldn't have waited this long, the season was over long ago.

And then his play dropped off so I don't think that's a coincidence.

Obviously he hasn't played up to the standards we expect this season. Part of it is him not being motivated on some nights, the other part of it is the injury. His shot hasn't been the same lately, his backhand has almost no elevation to it. Hopefully this gets fixed so he's back to being an elite player again. This team is going nowhere if he isn't.

I'm always complimetary of his skill and what he does for the community. He's a very gracious and humble young man. I don't cut him slack when it comes to earning his paycheck.

brymel knows me pretty well...if you doubt me she can fill you in.

It might have to do with the fact that a few years ago, he had a bet with someone...near and dear to my heart...regarding Vinny vs Brad. And that year Vinny won....and he had to buy...

I hate beer, but I enjoyed that one...
