I mentioned this on the GDT on Saturday. John Buccigross mentioned it on the telecast of the NCAA hockey tournament on ESPN. I didn't get to see much of him and OSU got their butts kicked.

Having seen him play here and there throughout his time at OSU one word comes to mind...meh. Pretty much indeifferent to this one as he probably won't be anything other than a depth guy ever, and I don't really mind that. He's better than Zeiler.

What do you guys think about Lawson from Vermont? I've only seen him against AF few nights ago so, I don't have a good opinion of him as of yet. However, a 6'3 and 245lbs dman, sounds intriguing. Not to mention his laser like slapshot that went through the net.

I'm not sure what to make of this. He put up good numbers this year, but last year he only had 5 total points, so he seems unlikely to project as a scorer. His size is good but his PIM totals are among the lowest on the team, so I'm guessing he's not exactly a bruiser. Seems like he'll be a hybrid type of 4th liner, a guy who can score a few points and make some hits but not really excel at either. Derek Armstrong Jr?

Moreover, does this suggest an end to the 4th line center incarnation of Brian Boyle?

It definitely creates some competition for a spot, which is exactly the way it should be. I think Boyle makes it to training camp next fall. He's had a trying year, but I'd bet that we see a more determined player coming into camp. The battle in camp for spots in the bottom six should be intense, to go along with the battle for the 6-7 d man spot. If Lombardi can land one high end winger via free agency, I'm happy to have prospects fill any other holes we many have.

This guy is going straight to Manchester...there is room for probably 3 everyday forwards on the Kings roster...Zeiler will be the 13th forward again.

Frolov-Kopitar-Williams
Brown-Stoll-?
Simmond-Handzus-?
Ivanans-Richardson-?

That's 3 spots for Purcell, Boyle, Moller and a UFA...something has to give....Clune and Lewis will also be competing for a spot and Zeiler has a one way deal...

Westgarth, Moulson, as well. Loki, Azevedo, and maybe Cliche, or Meckler could suprise as well, especially those last two if it's a 13th forward your looking at.

Oh, and Quattro no not Antarctica, close though currently in Minnesota.

So expect him to bolt for the Red Wings as soon as he is a UFA?
