My defense for next season looks something like:
Lydman-X (could possibly be Sekera, but probably not)
Butler-Rivet
Sekera/Weber-Myers/Sekera
Butler - Rivet
Lydman - Myers
Weber - Sekera

Weber and Sekera have experience together, Butler and Rivet make a lot of sense together and played together this year, and Myers gets to learn from a dependable vet in Lydman.

Likely, this will be what we see, though:
Tallinder - Lydman
Butler - Rivet
Weber - Sekera

Kelowna is tied with the Giants 1-1 after two games in the series. Does anyone know if Myers has been matched up against Kane for the most part?

Yes, VAN has been trying to double shift Kane to get a better match-up.

Now or long-term?

I'm still upset that we're not going to see a Myers-Hedman top pairing in Buffalo. Almost 14 feet between your top d-pair.

NHL scouts give Kelowna the edge

By Steve Ewen, The ProvinceApril 17, 2009

Granted anonymity, three NHL scouts who cover the WHL gave us their takes on the Western Conference final between the Giants and Rockets:

...

SCOUT 3: "I think Kelowna in six. They've probably had the best player in the league in the second half, in defenceman Tyler Myers, and they probably have the best forward in the league right now, in Jamie Benn. The longer the series goes, the more it favours Kelowna, because they're so much bigger."

Welcome aboard . I've been excited about Myers ever since Prospect Camp and it my excitement has only gone up. It's great to hear that Myers is stopping studs like Kane like they were nothing.

He did have a goal and an assist last night.

And Myers didn't play as well as he did in the first game. No coincidence.

Who's the favorite for the Memorial this year?

Did he get his points while Myers was on the ice though because Bakes said in his post they were trying to double-shift Kane to get better matchups.

Myers was even and not on the ice for any even strength goals including Kane's.

Calgary, they are a juggernaught. They stomped Brandon 9-3 in the opening game of their series this past weekend. Windsor/London (I kind of wish I was back in Ontario for this, from what I have read this series is absolutely great) are top end teams in their own right but from my understanding, their goaltending is weaksauce. To beat the Hitmen they'd have to go on a goal scoring frenzy.

If the WJC's were any indication, Myers is ahead on both counts.

It's probably a bit more, Myers grew another inch. I'd be very happy if the Sabres signed Hal Gill to pair with Myers.

With those three pairings, I don't see there being any real "3rd pairing".

If they wanted a "real #1 pairing", then they would likely do something like:

Regehr-Rivet
Lydman-Myers
Butler-Gilbert

I wouldn't mind seeing big Hal signed, either. He's slow as hell, but damn that would be fun to watch those two guys shut people down.

If this were the prospects forum you would be crucified for sure.

The being said I think Myers is grossly underrated.

Particularly by a certain segment of that forum.

I'm looking forward to seeing Myers again this summer and then in the fall. He's one of the few bright spots for this team in my eye at this point, on the ice or off, and I intent to enjoy the hell out of whatever he does.

Does everyone else remember when most of us were about to go down to HSBC and burn down the rink? Now look at us.

There are still plenty of reasons to put bits of Quinn and Regier on pikes.

For a guy as big as him, he skates so freaking fast. I love watching these highlight reels of the playoffs.

Tyler Myers received the games second star for his efforts in shutting down Evander Kane. And what a job he did. Myers was in Kane's face all night long. The two were forced off the ice with coincidental minors after a good collision in the corner late the third period.
http://www.am1150.ca/blog/917118

Sounds like Myers (+1) controlled Kane (-1) last night as Kelowna won 3-0 to even the series at 2. I don't believe Myers has been on the ice for any of Vancouver's even strength goals this series and has obviously shut down the highly skilled Kane in that regard. KB has a nice article posted on Sabresprospects on Myers one on one battle with Kane.
