I was surprised when I heard Schneider suffered a ribs injury because the hit was definately on the shoulder. The report from CJAD is probably correct then. We got Schneider for the shot from the point and now he is gone.

Yeah I don't understand why so many dismiss Henry out of hand, I quite like him as a short-term solution myself. Sure he's limited in terms of skill and mobility, but he's a veteran with a lot of NHL experience and he knows how to play within his abilities and not hurt the team.

I think Janik is here instead for two reasons. 1. Bob wants to take a look at him, sure sounded that way when he was asked why not move Dandy back. 2. With Laraque and Stewart playing, Henry's toughness isn't as useful as it would be without them.

Hope Janik makes Bob look good.

Here is the CJAD link.

Too bad for Schneider, he was a good acquisition for Gainey and definitely helped the powerplay.

From an impeccable source:

Schneider, rotator cuff tear, gone for the year.

Markov, slight knee ligament tear/sprain, might be a week, might be two. Can never be sure with this kind of injury.

Weber will be called up for PP duty. Habs may play with 5 regular D, plus Weber, with Dandenault in the lineup up front as insurance.

why does god hate us so much? Do the Wings ever lose Lidstrom and Rafalski a week before the playoffs? Do the Ducks lose Pronger/Niedermayer? Do the B's lose Chara/Wideman? No, this is back to back year injuries have ****ed us right before the playoffs. This team is frickin cursed.

Calling up Janik makes a ton of sense....He's 6'2 209 lbs playing with O'Byrne 6'5 228lbs on a third pairing. I'd rather see these two guys paired up on a third pairing then either one Carle or Weber. Carle and Weber would not be able to log the the minutes of the Schneider / Markov duo and the Hamrlik Brisebois duo will be adequate on the PP.

Better to have a third pairing (physical) split the load with the other two.
Brisebois Komisarek and O'Byrne are all righties and playing tonight. Need a lefty, not Carle or Weber just yet.

Weber can come up when Bouillon is ready, maybe Thursday.

Add Koivu's eye injury in the 2006 playoffs when we're up 2-0 in the series and I am really starting to think we are cursed.

Every time we start building something good it seems like key players go down.

***ing unreal if it's true on Schneider. Every key guy we add gets hurt. Tanguay had zero *serious* injury history and he missed 30+ games this year.

If this is true, then I hope we start playing Weber more. It's pretty much our only hope to have another threat on the back end of the pp.

you can add Zednik in 2002 as well. Even Lang this year.

I think BaseballCoach's source may be right, in that CJAD link it says ''Janik tells CJAD he's not expecting to be with the club for the 2nd game of the roadtrip in Boston Thursday.''

So either Markov will be healthy or another D will come up...unless they play Dandenault on D...Bouillon didn't skate today though, so I doubt his return is close.

Our already thin D Corps just became a lot thinner. We can definitely handle injuries up front, but injuries on our back end is just awful awful awful news. I feel like crying right now. Yannick Weber, get ready for the big time my friend.

This definately sucks...

let markov rest i guess, but losing schneider for the year, when we REALLY needed him for the playoffs, ..i really cant express my rage vs the leafs right now, god damn it, god damn it all to hell, i hope markov is 100% when he comes abck and feelin no ill effects ...

we really couldnt ask for 2 worst injuries than this, at the WORST possible time... it really leaves a sour taste in my mouth, i just cant beleive it

the TWO point men on our now staggering PP, gone, 4 games before the playoffs...

im goin to bed.. .. gainey would be stupid to not call up weber, ..hes having a great season in the AHL and we RLY COULD USE A SHOT on the pp, ..damn it...

One of the best Kent Brockman lines

This news on the other hand is ****ing horrible. I have no further comment on that, just a total bummer. I hope we win tonight and think we will. We'll make the playoffs and see what happens. I'm not throwing in the towel yet, I think we can still do some damage, just need to see how the PP performs over the next few nights and whether or not it can still hold a candle to what it has been recently.

Markov out 3 weeks.

Schneider's season is over.

Per RDS.

Season over. If by some miracle we make it in, we're out in 4-5.
