And the hottest team in hockey...

Montreal Canadiens. They are for real.

10-0-1-1 in their last 12. They just defeated Toronto and Colorado. They play two straight games against NJ and if they win both, they might finish 6th, 5th or even 4th.

OK while its great at the moment, and as a fellow HAbs fan i feel the pleasure, but these threads have the potential to get real ugly. But wtvr...lets not forget that only a few weeks ago we ahd lost our fourth in a row and everyone said we were gone from the PLayoffs.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to play Montreal...especially if they get Souray back.

I'm pretty sure they have one regulation loss in there somewhere. Still a very good streak. I see Habs threads popping up every five minutes lately.

Okay, the Habs are good but so are 15 other teams. Why are Habs fans so intent on letting everyone else know how good they are when we can all see the standings. You don't see Flames fans going around "Look at us, we're in 6th, could finish 5th or 4th too. We beat Colorado 7-1, Detroit 4-1 both on the road. You have to consider us contenders now. We beat Detroit, Colorado, San Jose, Vancouver, Philadelphia, Ottawa, Toronto, Boston & Montreal this year so that means we are contenders, right ?? Please tell us we are contenders".

Truth is, I'd consider the Flames to be more of a playoff threat than the Habs.

The Calgary Flames are hot as well, they just stretched their unbeaten streak to 6 games.

No...we (B's fans) don't want to play Ottawa in the first round. You'll take Toronto!

Being the hottest team in hockey does not mean all that much. There have been plenty of teams with good streaks this year. Tampa, Toronto, Colorado, Montreal. Even the Pens are on a good streak.

If Montreal manage to get home ice due to a great season finish it will have some practical differene.

It seems like since that incident in practice with Koivu and Ribeiro, the Habs have been on a tear...just when I thought they might falter down the stretch, they start playing their best hockey in years...

Jose Theodore is my Vezina winner this year, and runner-up for the Hart. If the Habs move up in the standings to 4th or 5th, Theo might bring home all the hardware.

I'm still nervous about making the flippin' playoffs, but this is fun (for the first time in a long time)

I'm pretty sure you are right about the streak starting after the Ribeiro/Koivu incident. It was right before the Habs beat the Flames 4-1. That game started their steak. I remember the Habs fans booing Koivu all game, it was pathetic.

I'd love to see the Oil make it into the playoffs and have all 6 Canadian teams in!
I believe the last time all Canadian teams made the playoffs was the 85-86 season, when all 7 teams made it!
Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg.

Of course, the Habs went on to beat the Flames in 5. Flames got their revenge in '89 beating the Habs (the last all-Canadian final i believe?)

So, go OIL!
Could be a good omen for Habs fans...

Yeah, and in 85-86, the Jets got in with a pretty weak record, as I recall, so this would be pretty impressive.

Bob Gainey has been great, from making the right personnel moves to getting the fans off Briesbois' case.(he leads MTL in +/-) With a great group of prospects and a team that is already very competitive, you have to think Montreal has turned the corner for good..... no more "playoff bubble" for les Canadiens.

ill drink to that
its great time for the habs all there core players are products of the organizations system.

my favoret thing about the habs is all there important players are younger then 30 (souray 27, markov 25, ribeiro 23, ryder 23, koivu 29, zednik 28, bulis 26, theodore 27, garon 26, begin(incredible agitator) 25)
and a huge group of solid prospects that are ready for next year.

CJ was well known in the minors for getting the best out of his players its definaitly working in the pro level as well.
