FC sounds interesting, but I don't like digital formats. I'd much rather have a magazine in my hands.

You might as well stop scouting the player, if that's a weakness.

Especially if your one Brian Burke, eh? Not so much if your Montreal's Trevor Timmons.

Honestly, I'm still not understanding your point. You would prefer if thngs were said in a different way?

International Scouting Service: 2009 NHL Draft Guide - Electronic Version $50.00 (CDN); Printed Version $60.00 (CDN) (Shipping or available via e-mail May 15, 2009)

Well it looks like the International Scouting Service has now pushed its release date for the 2009 NHL Draft Guide to May 25th now. It's kind of funny considering they've advertised that the release date is May 15th in The Hockey News.

Great, I ordered the print version. Now it'll show up the day before the draft. They should send me a free electronic version so I actually get it on time.

Wow, they upped the price also from last year?

I'll still be getting it though, best draft guide out there.

While the Red Line Report kept their price the same for the draft guide, Future Considerations, International Scouting Service, and McKeen's Hockey decided to raise the price of their draft guides.

Not correct, McKeen's is still $40

I'm sorry X-Sharkie, how is my statement incorrect? Are you telling me the price of the McKeen's Hockey: 2008 Draft Guide was $39.99 (USD)?

I guess you can expect improved products from most of these services but not all? RedLine has historically been the most expensive guide on the market so its not like they are the best deal out there right? Listen, my point is each one of these products offers a service and each has a slight different way or twist on delivering the info to you the consumer. It is up to you to judge and decide but don't let marginal things like an inevitable market correcting price increase sour your opinions.

Yeah, no kidding, it definitely wasn't 40 bucks last year or I wouldn't have bought it.

For the record, when I made the statement, in no way did I mean to equate the price of the product with the quality of the product. I'm well aware that each service offers something different. Anyways, I just wanted to clarify since I think you might have been reading in between the lines when there was nothing more to be read than what was written at face value.

This is a question I asked before, but this is in direct response to you saying,

"each one of these products offers a service and each has a slight different way or twist on delivering the info to you the consumer"

What are these twists? What differentitates McKeen from ISS from RLR from FC other than price? How does the product and the information differ?

Your right, I was reading a little more into what you said than maybe you meant to say.

To answer the next poster about what the difference is between all the available guides the most obvious answer is maybe opinions about each prospect. Different scouts will always have slightly differing opinions on a prospect, what their pro potential is, if they can get past that weakness in their game, etc. Then you have design teams coming up with different looking magazines graphics for each publication. There are going to be many differences but basically the same message. Another example is McKeens, FC and ISS to a lesser extent give you more prospect specific articles than say RedLine would. Not that I'm belittling RL at all. I don't know but I hope this helps.

Whoops, my apologies ... I thought you were referring to the rumor of a $50 pricepoint.
