I'm pretty happy with what Gillett has done... what difference would Savard make as an owner. Just wondering?

They said the same thing last time they were for sale, the team is going to be more expensive than the last time and economic hardships aren't going to be any better on his real estate and hotel business right now....it is a RDS pipe dream.

It's typical from certain media types though.

"Hey - let's ramp up the negativity!" Instead of getting behind the club, they stir **** instead.

Same here. I hope Gillett finds another way to pay off his debt.

that's not the first time he talks about his interest on the subject...

i really don't know about how rich is the guy... wouldn't be surprised if he was part of a group that is interested into buying the team... instead of being the only owner.

who cares, seriously

is he gonna bring back schenider and markov?
teach guillaume to skate?
show higgins how to score?

if not, then carrot top can buy the habs, makes no difference.

and honestly, if his group buys it, how many more years till he tanks and sells out?
seriously i cant see them as long term owners.

It will be borrowed money if he get it. This ownership will be worse than Molson's.

He is worth more in assests, not cash.

We need ownership with deep pockets in both ends, this the reason Gillet is in trouble too.

The difference is Serge Savard's #1 priority would be owning and running the Habs - not running around the world trying to own Soccer teams.

You mean running them into the ground.

Gillette has been a great owner. Stays away from the day to day, loves to watch the games when he can, and opens the coffers quite readily.

No way could Savard keep his interfering paws off of the team.

Wouldn't make a difference in the world, unless he plans on trying his hand at GM again.

So? He was pretty damn solid doing it. Much more so than the actual GM. Savard was the best GM outside Sam Pollock in the modern history of the club.

Oh great! More shrewd first round draft picks like Eric Charron, Brent Bilodeau, Lindsay Vallis, David Wilkie, Terry Ryan etc. More great trades like Chelios and a 2nd rounder for Denis Savard, Leclair and Desjardins for Recchi, etc.
