4-9-09 Stars at Avs 7 PM MT

And we have arrived. The final homestand of an otherwise forgettable year. So what happens tonight...do that Avs get back on the tank? Or do they keep moving down the draft board.

Some notes from the Denver Post today
Quote:
Left wing Per Ledin was recalled Wednesday from Lake Erie (AHL). Ledin was one of the last cuts in training camp, but this is his first NHL call-up. If he plays tonight, he will become the 11th Avs player this season to make his NHL debut. Ledin, 30, had 23 points (11 goals) in 58 games for the Monsters.
And:
Quote:
Avs captain Joe Sakic (back) will meet with team doctors tonight to determine his playing status for the final two games this weekend.
Budaj will start in goal...not surprising, since he has played well (too little too late unfortunately).

From the TG Front:
Quote:
After the Avalanche's Tuesday morning skate, Tony Granato had just finished confirming that he expected and wanted to be back as the Avalanche's coach next season.

The followup question "Why?" bothered him.

"What do you want me to do, be a full-time fisherman?" Granato asked. "Why wouldn't I want to be a part of an organization I have pride in? Why wouldn't I want my . . ."
For the rest of that article (I believe it's being discussed in the "Fire Granato" thread), you can click here

Sure it was a little overdue, but he definately deserves the win.

And for those of you who still think epically failing is cool, tampa might have a chance at beating washington today. It's a bit of a long shot, but the caps do have a tough time against Western teams for some reason, so that'll be interesting to watch.

Tampa Bay... The team of Lecavelier, St. Louis, Halpern, Prospal, and now Krajicek and other decent players...what the hell happened to this team?? And Mike Smith is one of the top 20 goalies in the league. Granted he's 20th, but he's doing quite a better job than our goalies or the islanders's backups. I would've liked to see them do better this year. Then again, I would have liked to see Buffalo make the playoffs too, but that's probably not happeneng =/

This will be a difficult one to tank. The guy they got in net instead of Turco is downright laughable (can't remember his name) and they've been decimated by injuries as well.

Battle of the lame duck coaches...here's to hoping Tippett can at least outcoach his counterpart. Shouldn't be too hard.

Do you know if any of the games will be televised tonight?

I think both games are on ESPN 2. (Checking Jori's blog...) yes, both games are on ESPN 2 (3 and 6:30 MT)

I think its on ESPN 2 for the U.S.

Anyone know where to watch the Frozen Four in Canada? Really just want to watch the Boston University game.

Sorry Tony, it's not a matter of you giving up on us. You suck. I'd be an upgrade simply because I'd have the sense not to make the Avs first line Arnason - Wolski - Willsie.

Nice lame attempt at mind games, though, as if to suggest Frei was asking if he thinks he'll be gone by choice.

---

The Avs will probably win this game, and then lose the next two.

Matt Climie?

He actually hasn't fared too poorly for someone with two career starts, going 1-1. Especially on an injury-ravaged Stars team with defense that regularly leaves him high and dry.

This'll likely be his last game in Dallas before heading back to Idaho for the ECHL playoffs on the weekend.

Should be a good game, at any rate.

There's only one game left after this one.

A warm pop-tart would be an upgrade. At least it would distract Tyler with it's snacky goodness and keep him off the ice.

Dallas, Vancouver, and St. Louis are the games the Avs have left. 1+1+1=3

Western Florida?

Hope the Avs don't gain any more points here, but Dallas has been really bad lately also.

We can't finish any higher than where we are now (3rd last).

Tampa has 2 games left, and are 1 point behind. They play Washington and Atlanta. They may win 1 of those games, so we're going to have to lose out (in regulation).

Definitely excited to see Ledin get the chance to play.

Hopefully the Bolts like to play spoiler and can get up vs. the caps.

Kyle Keefe (sp?) with the quote of the year:

"It's intense out there. Both of these teams are fighting for playoff position right now."

I **** you not.
