It's not a surprise, I didn't expect him to make it.

Same, not surprised. I will be surprised if he progresses as expected and doesn't make it next year though.

I really wouldn't worry about it, he carries on the long tradition of Stars players to come out of "nowhere" to contribute in the NHL.

Yeah I guess but guys like erikkson Neal grossman go unnoticed on HF and then its like hey dallas has some quality youth. I think it was like 3 straight years before this one where the system was ranked in the bottom five yet it produced the guys above along with Fistric Ott Daley Niskanen along with some lower liners.

I just find it hard to see that aguy like Brian Lee who is 22 and shows little more than a guy like Fistric or Grossman has more upside than Vishneskiy. Does Sutter look to be more than Stephan Yelle lite? Is Pacioretty really better than Benn? I wonder.

Dallas is where hockey prospects go to die. Just like everyone is calling Brunnstrom a bust because he hasn't scored forty points. He's anything but. Neal and Benn in the future are also great young players who are going to "come out of nowhere" to amaze everyone else.

If Brunnstrom gets used properly he'll be awesome next year.

Neal really surprised the crap out of me, I saw him dominate in Traverse and he still surprised me. He's going to be a fan favorite for sure, I love his hunger for the puck.

Can't say I am surprised he is left off the list. Benn doesn't get the respect he deserves, in 2 years from now everyone will be asking where Benn came from.

You can be darn sure that if he were a Maple Leafs or Red Wings prospect, he'd be listed as Top 10. These lists show real bias. The THN list a couple months ago put Detroit prospects with stated ceilings as 3rd line forwards (written in the same article!) ahead of Benn and many other more worthy prospects. THN seems to think top Detroit management is a bunch of geniuses (pretty true) so their prospects must be diamonds in the rough (a real stretch).

Until Dallas has produced a body of prospects that prove to be top notch NHLers, we will continue to be considered a place where prospects go to die.

Nothing will change the perception.

Dallas had 13 draft picks on the roster when they went to the WCF, and that was after trading 2 more roster draft picks for a key piece of their playoff run. Dallas' drafting is a key reason that over the last 4 or 6 years, the team is one of the best in the entire league (like Detroit and New Jersey). Dallas will continue to draft well and get dumped on. I'm fine with that.

I believe he was in the 30's in THN's annunal prospect issue. At least someone recognizes his talent.
