There was no guarantee that he would work here.

The guy was a huge bust in SJ the year they traded for him at the deadline.

Who needs Crosby when you have Plekanec?

So you don't acquire anyone because you don't have Crosby?

Re: Phi-Pit game.

It went penalty free for so long. Then they came and they were ALL the cross check to the back in front of the net type (well, Gill's cross check was kinda stupid, and his dive was even worse). This, as I'm sure you remember, is exactly what cost US the game, but of course the refs never called the thousand cross checks to our players.

The officiating is bad because it's not consistent. In the philly-pit game, I think it was pretty stupid to be cross checking after two penalties were already given out for that, so Knuble shold have let up. Then again, it was Gill, who went down like a deck of cards and happens to be the biggest guy out there. Anyway, tonight they just better set a standard and keep to it and only call those penalties in the 3rd and OT if it was REALLY screwing up a scoring chance. In all the games (including Van-Stl), people were playing playoff rough, as they should. Shouldn't be randomly called when the refs feel like it.

I don't know who's gonna fix the ref problem.. it's soo stupid that you fight soo hard to win.. just to get fcked up by the refs..

Frustrating game. I just can't stand the Rangers. They play such a boring style.

Lunqvist was awesome, but got more help thna Price ever has. His D blocked tons of shots, cleared rebounds and made it near impossible for the Caps to move the puck around down low. Like some complete opposite of our defense. How did Tortorella got them all to buy into it and we can't see similar results for our Habs? Cripes, he had Antropov trying hard! It's clear the Caps would've been a better first round opponent, but i doubt the Habs could shut them down like this game 2. Scoring 4 goals on Theodore is doable, but could our defensively mediocre club hold back Ovy and co.? Probably not.

The Rangers / Capitals series should be a lesson to all the people who always think that ONE player can make the difference. If the player is missing, yes, it can make a difference, but one player can't win games by himself. You need the whole team playing the system.

Defense wins championships.

I think you should watch a rerun of the first Habs/Ruins game. They played well defensively, considering that Markov wasn't there.

Before the team went to hell, they were among the best teams defensively. If Markov comes back, the Bruins better cross their fingers as they didn't even manage (empty netter aside) to win by more than one goal on both games that Markov wasn't there.

I'd like to see any team try to manage without their #1 D. Pittsburg couldn't do it and I'm sure most teams would be at a lost without their #1 D.

Yep. It's not necessarily having a superstar that gets you far, or even to the cup. You need a defensive mentality with everyone buying in. Half the Habs do, half don't. Most of our forwards on the top 2 lines are quite weak in the defensive zone and half our D can't handle another team's offensive onslaught.

Great goal by Jeff Carter!

Can't wait to see if we're going to respond the same way Philly is doing right now.

2-0 already.

Giroux vs Kennedy!!!

People should really tune in 'cause that's a great game so far!

I mean, people in Montreal would really not like to see a physical team once and for all? I know I would but I'm dreaming...
