GREAT TRADE! But did you know.....

We can all agree that the Linden, Zubrus trade for Bulis and Zednick was a great trade for the Canadiens! What I just found out that was even more interesting is that involved in the deal were 2 draft choices, a 2nd rounder that went to Washington and a 1st rounder that came to Montreal. They picked someone by the name of Andreas Holmqvist who was then traded to Tampa. Montreal choose Alexander Perezhogin who we all know is getting GREAT praise with his play in the AHL. WOW........... HABS RULE NO MATTER WHAT!

Just to comment on Andreas Holmquist (sp?) He's also playing in Hamilton right now... Apparently the TB brass are pretty high on this kid though... He has a solid future ahead of him... If we could steal him back for a low pick or something... It'd make that trade a whole lot better than it already is

Just to add my 2 cents here. It was the Caps who propose the trade. Caps want both Zubrus and Linden, Savard said Zednik must be included in the deal. Even Savard himself isn't sure if it'll be a good trade or not. Then after several rounds of neogociation, Caps sweeten the offer with their first round pick. Then Savard accepted it and said, "I am not too sure if it is a good deal until the Caps sweeten the deal to a point that he cannot refuse it!"

Good deal, but I would say the Muller-Schneider-Darby for Turgeon and Malakhov deal is better.

was Nathan Paetch, picked in the second round pick we gave them, and to make it even worse he wasn't even signed, Paetch reentered the draft two years later and was drafted by Buffalo in seventh round.

Actually I think the 2nd rounder in question is Nathan Paetsch. The Caps didn't even bother signing him and he re-entered the draft this past summer and was selected in the 7th round by the Sabres.

With a big build up like that I thought he was going to say they had another deal on the table at the time

The difference in the picks was only about 10. I guess I could look it up but I'm too lazy. We got the 25th pick from Washington and they got the 7th pick in the seond round from us.

Ah, gee thanks! And that's OK, I don't need a bday thread.
Just got back from my 'business lunch' which consisted of exactly 3 Guinesses! My afternoon's looking brighter already!
