Yes, I wanted the #4 seed but I'd rather have the #6 over #5 at this point.
So if Philly doesn't get a point and Pitt loses tonight, you're going to be disappointed? I hope not...

If Philly doesn't get a point, I'll change my tune in regards to Pittsburgh, but I doubt the Isles win in regulation.

Does anyone know why Rangers fans gave Devils a nickname "Debbies"?

Thats a good question I become so use to it that I never really thought about how it came to be. Probably because we call them rags though

I still say other way around. Canes over Devils + Flyers over Pens while beating the hell out of eachother in 7 = Eastern Conference Finals for Carolina.

Even though it likely means a 2nd round matchup with Boston or Washington?

Washington we can handle. I think Boston could spell doom. But I also think if anyone can upset Boston it's Montreal. Much the same way if anyone can upset Jersey it's us.

Anybody else find it suspicious that the two bounces came from the same end of the ice... the end of the ice in which Carolina played in twice?

The NHL should really inspect this kind of behavior. That kind of advantage isn't hard to create.

I still haven't seen the goals but if they're as bad as I hear then that's definitely something the league should be looking into. It's always been common knowledge that some arenas have livelier boards but I've always wondered why this isn't something the nhl regulates. The playing surface and all elements of the game should be consistent from arena to arena.

Not only do the majority of Devils fans on this board appear to be annoying, but they also appear to be complete idiots as evidenced by that thread.

Ya, after having watched the video of the goals it does look pretty suspicious. In both cases a devils player cut to the net once the puck was dumped. That's not typical behavior. These goals are rare as it is, but two in one period. Heck, some of the devils fans are trying to say they were just typical bounces but if there wasn't a problem what did the ice crew fix during the intermission?

It will be interesting to see how the Pens and Habs come out and play tonight. I'm going to watch it and am looking forward to it. If the Pens win or get a point tonight vs. the Habs they will indeed face the Flyers in round one and the Devils will be ours. Whether the Pens get home ice or not will be determined by if they can get the 2 points tonight and also what the Flyers do in their final game.

The Habs have a chance to jump up a position and land in 7th. Of course that also depends on what the Rangers do with their final game. With that said, PJ Stock said he spoke to a Habs player and he said they feel they matchup better against Boston, who they have had good luck against in past. So do the Habs come out to win? The Habs are resting Tanguay tonight so he will not play and Koivu is on the 4th line with Stewart and Laraque so he will see limited action. Gainey however says they want to win.

It sounds stupid to talk about, but you gotta think the players would have a bit of a feeling of who they may want to play if they can help it.

It will probably be an interesting evening and one that will determine who we play in the first round.

EDIT: First 3 and a half minutes and the shots are 7-0 Pens. Seems they have come out to play.

I've never even seen that guy on the Devils HFBoards site, so clearly he's just a troll.

As for the Devils being "outplayed" today,,,,,,,what?

The Devils dominated shots, faceoffs, and scoring chances. Yes, they got 2 flukey goals, but they clearly outplayed Carolina today and dictated flow of play. If not for some fantastic goaltending by the backup the Devils probably should have had 5 or 6 goals. He wasnt even named 1 of the 3 stars of the game, which I thought was ridiculous.

If you haven't seen them, it's as bad or worse as you can imagine. Same place on the boards for both goals. Absolute WONKY reactions from the same spot on the glass that put the puck in front of an empty cage on two separate occasions. Devils players looked to be shooting for it, and Devils players drifted to the front of the net when the clears were supposed to be heading to the board side.

Again, it's just a regular season game so it's not that upsetting but it is ballsy to attempt regardless of what the outcome of the game meant. And the fact that the Devils crew fixed it just prior to Marty tending that goal is another very interesting facet of the discussion.

I don't want to sound like a Habs fan, so I will leave it at it is what it is and move on.

However, if we do play the Devils in the playoffs and this happens, you'll see me complain, cry, have a tremendous amount of excuses, whine, accuse, *****, moan, did I say whine and use the term excuses already?... like a Habs fan.

Well, as a positive for today's game, Babs is tied for 4th in defensive goalscoring after his two, and has the 2nd best shooting percentage from defensemen.

Guy's a beast.

Sure is nice to see. Especially when you put it that way - tied for 4th in the league in goals from a defenceman at 24 and in his first full season.

All in all, with Corvo netting 14, we have 2 defenceman in the top 6 in terms of goals by a defenceman.
