Ales Kotalik

With Sabres: 56 games, 13 goals and 32 points.
With Oilers: 18 games, 7 goals and 11 points.
All his points with the Oilers have come in the last 12 games.

Kotalik is a UFA in the summer. What kind of contract do you think he'll sign? I'd love to see Tambellini re-sign him. He and Hemsky have some chemistry....and he also has chemsitry with Gagner. He seems to have the ability to play with anyone.

He got off to a slow start in Edmonton which isn't unusual after the deadline but he really turned it on after about 5 or 6 games. He had 7 goals and 11 points in the final 12 games. It's clearly a hot streak but at the same time, it's clearly a fit.

So what kind of money and how many years do you think he will be asking for?

I'd be wary in giving this guy a long-term deal. Seemed to really turn it on at the end due to it being a contract year.

Agreed. Although, he really likes playing with Hemsky, so I could see him staying motivated through a 2-year contract.

15-20 goals 40-50 points....nice size and a big shot
He throws some hits too..thats nice. 30 years old..so he has a few decent years left.

maybe worth 2million-2.5 i dont see him getting over 3.

Probably $4 million/season for 2-3 years.
He's good/versatile enough to have a bidding war for his services, and thus an inflated salary a la Michael Ryder last year.

Someone will overpay him for his big shot. He'll contribute on the PP but give a half ass effort 5 on 5 likes hes been doin his whole career.

I guess it all depends on how much the general managers are worried about where the cap is going. I think 3.5 a year is a little steep.

The fact that the Oilers have Visnovsky and Souray on the pp points makes me think Kotalik would be more valuable to another team. He doesn't hit anything btw, big body though. If I'm the Oilers I offer 2 years and 2.5M per. If he's not interested, let another team overpay in term or dollars.
