Reasons why The Leafs wont win the Cup this year

This year, more than any other year, The Leafs went nuts trading away prospects and draft picks to make themselves a "better" team. I think they have a good team, but they aren't going anywhere because Ed Belfour won't last long enough with his back in the playoffs.

Belfour's wonky back isnt the reason why the Leaf's wont win the cup, Trevor Kidd is the reason why the Leafs wont win the cup

Really, because Belfour's played through said wonky back in previous playoffs. He's had the exact same problem since 1996. Just because the Leafs thought they should plsay it safe doesn't mean that he's more likely to have it act up this year more than 2003/2002/2001 etc.

What prospects? Jarkko Immonen and Maxim Kondratiev? Not exactly top-end prospect in most people's opinion (although there are some Leafs HF Writers who would disagree). They traded away a 4th round pick for Francis (hardly a risk) and the two goofballs with a 1st and a 2nd (which IMO is over-paying as it is for Leetch).

If they lose, their defensive size and play will be to blame, not Belfour.

They won't win the cup because they traded away prospects? I assume you mean the prospect playing in St. Johns and the other playing in Russia? You know, I guess your right. If Toronto had that guy back in St Johns and Max back in Russia they'd be a shoe in to win? WTF are you talking about?

Is this a continuation thread? Which of the other ones was it inspired by?

Didn't we just have this same freaking thread? I by no means love the leafs, but for the love of god can we stop having all these threads which in all reality don't contribute much?

I wonder how many people would be harping on and on about Belfour's back if he hadn't sat out for a few weeks. Ironically enough the rest certainly helped the situation instead of aggravating it.

I don't get the irony. Yes, the purpose of not playing is to heal up so you're better when you come back.

Well, if he had played through it he'd probably be in a worse state right now. Instead he took time off to heal it and suddenly all the talk is about how he won't last the playoffs with his crazy back.

Wasn't the last thread 10 reasons why the Leafs won't win the Cup? Maybe he's making it more open ended this time.

Seriously though, why don't we have threads like this for every contender? Sheesh, this is getting old.

The title is kind of off, it should either be "The Leafs will win the cup this year" or "the Leafs won't win the cup for the next decade" because this year is the Leaf's last chance at a cup before many of them retire or become too old to be effective.

I think you covered this in your "Is it just me.. or are the leafs getting older by the second? " thread last week.

Half of your posts are of the anti-leaf variety. Although we do allow for people to express their opinions, it's clear you have an agenda that isn't welcome here.
