Figured this deserved its own thread. Discuss.

Looking forward to it. I think it will be an awesome series and lets hope we come out on top... Something about this thing of being back in the playoffs feels so right!

BRING IT ON! 2002 and 06 were payback for Francis and Willis so we're even. Now time to start a whole new chapter. Besides, it just wouldn't be a Hurricanes playoff year without a matchup with the Devils

Extremely premature and drunken call: Canes in 6.

If 02' and 06' were for Francis and Willis we still owe them one for winning the 01' series!

Should be a good series I think, 6 or 7 games.

It's go time boys.

I think this is a good matchup. It's kinda gets old around here but i'll say it, we match up well against the Devils.

I believe the Devils have a shot to take the East and go on to play for Lord Stanley. I think they are very deep within the forward ranks, a pretty solid defence who allowed the 2nd least amount of goals against (209), and obviously one of the greatest goaltenders to ever stand between the pipes.

With that said (and as funny as it may sound) I believe we can take the Devils. I believe we match up well against them and in a 7 game series and can make old memories new ones and carry on the trend of eliminating the New Jersey Devils from hockeys second season.

I think as deep as the Devils are at forward, their not as deep in terms of 'scoring punch' like the Flyers are with the likes of Richards, Carter, Gagne, Lupul, Briere, Hartnell, Giroux, Knuble. One sloppy turnover there and it'll most likely result in a goal. I wouldn't want to test them. Any way you want to slice that, they're deep and pretty scary.

However, New Jersey is no pushover with the likes of Parise, Langenbrunner, Elias, Zajac, Gionta, Zubrus, Rolston, Clarkson. They're grizzled with vets in Madden, Shanahan, Holik, Pandolfo.

With a defence consisting of Martin, Oduya, White, Salvador, Greene, Havelid, Mottau.

It won't be easy and the series could go the extra mile, but I believe this Hurricanes team can take the Devils.

I am looking forward to seeing how Cam Ward does against his idol in another playoff series.

Prediction: Canes in 7.

Most people are predicting us to win.

That means we'll fail epically.

And in all of his starts against the devils this year.

I think it makes Ward care about the devils games more, to be honest.

Hey guys I was looking over the booking schedules for both buildings and came up with the probable schedule for the series based on the building schedule and TV schedule (how both VS and NBC want to avoid this series). Here is what I came up with.

-Prudential Center is booked April 24th and 26th
-RBC Center is booked the 24th and 25th.

Game 1 @ NJ: Wed. 4/15/09
Game 2 @ NJ: Fri. 4/17/09
Game 3 @ Car: Sun. 4/19/09
Game 4 @ Car: Tues. 4/21/09
Game 5 @ NJ: Thurs. 4/23/09
Game 6 @ Car: Sun. 4/26/09
Game 7 @ NJ: Mon. 4/27/09

Again, this is just an educated guess but I would bet money it would be something similar to this.

I'm hoping for a Thursday start simply from the standpoint that I can't make a Sunday game in time for the start of it.

Although, I am feeling a bit of a cold coming on

If Ward and the big guys offensively can play like they lately, and if the Devils play as bad as they have been, we should easily take this series. But any team with Brodeur and Parise is going to be dangerous, and I hope the last two games made the Canes realize that they can and will lose if they don't put 110% effort into every game.

I'll go ahead and say Canes in 6

The loss yesterday gave us our toughest possible road to the EC finals... We now have to beat Martin Brodeur (the greatest of all time in my opinion) and Tim Thomas (The best this year) before we even sniff the EC finals... I know people want to blow off yesterday's loss as no big deal but I think it was a major snafu...

yup, its going to be real tough. no doubt. But from what I have seen this season, and heard/read about/seen replays of from the last half of the season, I feel this team has the ability to pull it off. Besides, what is the point in thinking negatively? If the TEAM went into every game/series thinking negatively, how much do you think they would win? They need their fans behind them. And yeah, even if we dont think they will win, we still cheer. But a cheer with true confidence in one's team is much louder and more effective than one just for the hell of cheering.

CO CANES!

I just want to say that trolling in this thread (and any future threads) will not be tolerated. This includes those of you who think you can come in this thread, or future threads, and be "cute" or "clever' with your insults. You are not either of those things and veiling them under the guise of "I'm just here to add to the discussion and not troll, but...." is really trolling and will not be excused, allowed or tolerated.

You will get points and you will be banned from the thread. If it continues, you will be banned from the entire Canes board. Neither Dale nor I have the time or the patience to police or babysit when you all know the rules. You agreed to those same rules when you joined HF and if you can't accept those rules, your account will reflect that.

Canes posters - if you see trolling or any other rules being broken, please do not respond. Report, report, report. I know this has been said before - it makes a mess to clean up, you may end up with points, another mod has to come in if Dale or I aren't here and MORE points may be given out. I know, points..ooohh scary. But they do affect your account, your access to posting, editing your posts, etc. Or in the heat of the playoffs (and the more us mods get frustrated with the idiots) maybe even the loss of your account during the playoffs (or forever, depending on your history). So just keep that in mind. Playoffs are always moderated tougher than the regular season.

Was it a role play where you call your wife a Sergeant?

I heard the Devils are going to shuttle in some of Newarks vast homeless population in an attempt to fill the arena for games 1 & 2.
