Man, Stock's a ******

Watching the CBC preview show and a Habs fan asks him about how the physical players will factor into the series and Stock immediately says Montreal has two players like this, Boston has seven.

These smug "Canadian" Boston homers will be the death of me. Why do they have an all-Boston panel on this stupid channel?

Who are the seven players?
Lucic, Chara, Thornton, Byron Bitz (love that name), Wheeler...

Canadiens have two: Laraque, Komisarek, Lapierre, Kostopoulos, Stewart... yeah, that's 2.

He also said that we don't have a 3rd line. When ask about the Lapierre line he answered that this was just an energy line that wasn't able to score nor to play defence....

CBC biased towards the Canadiens? What? Surely you mean Canadians, as in Leafs.

Stock loves Philly too. Why the hate-on for the Habs?

From his time there, he knows which players get physical.

I live in Vancouver and if we had a broadcaster who hated the hometeam like Stock does the Habs he'd be off the air. Why do Montreal fans put up with this guy?

Exactly, just because we don't have "heart and soul" players like Lucic who's certifiable. Why didn't any of the lame Habs fans in studio call him on it?

last year they were rooting for Boston as the underdog. Now that they're favourites, they're crowned champs and CBC's guys fawn over them. With Stock, Cherry and Milbury, you knew where the sympathies lay last year. Even Kelly Hrudey got drawn in to talking all about the Bruins. Marc Savard was the most talked about guy in the series next to Price (who was massively overanalyzed especially since the Kost Bros. and Kovalev had a good series too). In 2004 and 2002 with Cherry there and Ron following along, it was still pro-Bruins.

CBC is constantly biased towards the Canadiens; don't act all outraged because you have two guys (Stock and Cherry) that offer a different viewpoint.
I don't have a problem with somebody picking the Bruins. They're the favourites and that's fine.

But it doesn't change the fact that Stock is a terrible analyst.

Problem is that people tune into him so they can rip him.

I stopped listening to him a long time ago. It just baffles me that I have to put up with him now on HNIC.

I'm not even saying this as a Hab fan either. Yes, its brutal the way he rips the team but he just flat out doesn't know what he's talking about most of the time. Along with Jim Ralph, this guy is the worst analyst in sports.

Folks, please. Just turn off the radio when he comes on.

I seriously don't get this whole "Big physical Boston" team every analyst talks about.

Lucic, Chara and Thornton are all tough dudes i'll give them that but other than that they don't have any really overly physical dominating guys. Wheeler is huge but he barely throws his weight around, Aaron Ward gets hurt every game, guys like Kobasew, Wideman, Bergeron and Stuart won't back down but aren't overly physical then you got guys like Savard, Ryder, and Kessel who clearly aren't going to be physical. With Laraque in the lineup Lucic won't be running at our guys as much (as we saw in the regular season with him in the lineup) and Thornton won't be suckering guys like O'Byrne so I really don't see this huge physical advantage to Boston that all these analysts are talking about.

would be so funny to see it this way, this year .

Boston in 1st and Toronto in 8th

oh boy huh? all we would here is Toronto underdog and upsets, watch out

facts are facts, in the last 31 series between Montreal Boston the habs have won 24 TIMES.

I'm fine with people picking the Bruins too but having to deal with a 100% pro-Bruin panel on yiur "home" network. How would an all-Hab panel play on NBC? Or an all Blue Jay panel for a World Series? Another example of Canadians taking it up the _____ and being to weak and politically correct to speak up about it.

To be honest, PJ really isnt a good analyst, he stutters A LOT and always seems disorganized.

However, he is entertaining and speaks his mind. Part of me thinks CBC is grooming him to be the next Don Cherry.

Good point about Russell but what if he spent his whole broadcast fawning over the Flames?

Stock, Milbury and Cherry offering their unbiased opinions followed by the tag team of Bob Cole and Greg Millen describing the on-ice action. Does it get any better? I say no.

I'll do something weird - defend Stock (next on the line of defended undefendables will be JC)

On radio - Stock is a clown. An entertainer. I am outraged at what he says most of the times but I still find it funnier to listen to him then to Michel Bergeron + Michel Villeneuve. At least he has some charisma besides being annoying.

He also plays a role - the open anti-hab role. He admits hating the Habs. Unlike Rejean Tremblay, Alain Crete, Villeneuve or other ex Nordiques who do it from the cover of "journalist neutrality".

The trouble starts when he is treated as a hockey analyst (on national TV no less) where you are expected to act in a responsible manner, which he is incapable of.

Bottom line, Bob Gainey said it the best "P.J.....if only you could play then as well as you talk now !"

Ha! So true, but we shan't have to worry about that this season...

Did he hate the Habs as a kid growing up on the West Island or did it start after they cut him?
