To be fair, even though we suck, we should have never had to kill back to back penalties, as Shanahan skated into Brindy's follow through. Should not be a penalty.

Wow, we might as well fire up the busses and go home. We have no chance with this penalty fest.

That one wasn't nonsense. Rod clears the puck and Shanahan runs into Rod's followthrough after the stick is already up at shoulder level. Sorry, that's a pretty easy non-call for any competent ref. But DVM has a pretty big history with the Canes so stuff like that is to be expected from him.

Finally a penalty on NJ. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a phantom call.

Canes are not being allowed to match the Dev's physical play. Leaving the feet? Yes a penalty but I've seen it twice from the Devs already. Just previous they could have called interference when Cole dumped the puck in. Add that to a bad call on the high stick and what should we talk about? We've had 6 minutes of penalties already.

Seriously. Babchuk all alone on the point there on the other side of the ice, 4 Devils pinching towards the sideboard where the puck is. How hard is it to slip a pass through for the Bab-bomb?

Does Cullen have anything else in his stickhandling repertoire other than that same toe drag?

One thing I have noticed about the Devils defensively is when we apply even just a bit of pressure it seems they're not very good. They seem to collapse but get pretty loose. Problem is, we're having a hard time being in the right position to pounce on rebounds and doing what it takes to get in, get dirty, and knock some home. I noticed it in the first game to in the very few opportunities we had.

I really don't think this Devils team is that 'great' as they're looking. If we can step up to the plate and use our speed, forecheck, fire pucks at the net and be there standing in front, I see quite a few goals as a result.

If we can apply solid pressure in the offensive zone, keep the puck on net with a man or two in front, we should be able to knock a few in.

This is HUGE. Knocking one in here before the period ends would be a breath of fresh air.

**** YAH! MY BOY STAALSY!

I know the Devils were SH, but as I said, apply pressure, and they seem quite loose when they collapse defensively. And they did what I just talked about, shoot the puck on net and be there to pick up and rebounds or loose pucks.

Huge response by Staal. And what do you know, a LEGIT call led to it.

Under Maurice it seems this team really tries the last minute of a period. Those goals can be momentum turners. Of course it helps to be on a PP.

And since they shoot on that end next period, they'll just leave it alone.

Yep. Any goal in the last minute of a period is HUGE. They've gotta have a good feeling going into the locker room. We got out of that period, it was better than last game. Still not great but we're in it and we need to come out in the 2nd and play like this team can ****ing play.

Anybody watching the Pens-Flyers game between periods. A pretty good game with end to end action, just wish both could lose.

If we spend that much time in our end regularly we're going to get killed.

Yeah, what a flat start.

And for some reason, Wallin seems to be playing every shift.
