Malakhov has a Broken Jaw

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp...84&hubName=nhl

Doesn't give a timeline...not the greatest news Philly coulda gotten, but I guess it coulda been worse...Pitkanen could be out as well...

Bad luck for the Flyers, as they've got a damn good team going for them, but these injuries are definitely not going to help them ward off the surging Devils...I'd personally love to see the Flyers drop, and end up playing the Sens though, then we'd see a very intense first round series. Havlat would finally get it...

Thankfully Seids is making great progress and I have a feeling he'll be playing quite a bit come playoff time.

I was pretty impressed with what I had seen tonight. Hopefully he gets well soon.

The Flyers should sit all of their starters and play ECHL players, so they can't lose anymore NHL players to injury. This is stupid how many injuries this team has.

Tough blow, but I'm sure the Flyers can play through it. They have been doing pretty good without Primeau and Roenick right?

and Desjardins our # 1 defenceman, he went out in the last game against the Leafs.

you hardly ever see this many players get broken jaws/cheekbones from pucks in the entire NHL in one season. but to have 3 players from 1 team? i cant believe it.

What's the projected time frame for Desjardins return?

Oh contraire--You must mean his size then? Just like everyone says--he doesn't use his size the way he should.
If you look at his career stats he can be quite the offensive threat. Maybe playing on a stacked team has him believing in another cup. He has a wicked point shot and should get enough points here.

This is true, but we have plenty of defenseman here that are able to provide offense. The teams where he had the most offense were teams where he was the #1 defenseman (except maybe his rookie year with the Isles). In New Jersey he had 5 points in 17 games and 5 points in 23 playoff games, and that was the best hockey he played.

Did I read somewhere that Kapanen is permanently going back to D as he did for that one game at Washington?

Oops! I just saw the thread mentioning Kapanen playing D. I answered my own question.
