Old college tear away jerseys?

When that though briefly crossed my mind -- actually a player breaking his stick -- I also thought of a player trying to score with a faulty stick... That would come back to bite one in the arse.

Funny story with the old Bullies... they often played practical jokes and one player sawed almost all the way through a stick blade and taped over it; meant for practice... Well, you guessed it; it was used in a game and broke off on a sure goal slap shot... I'm not positive of who was who, but I think the two alum were Dornie and Hound. They laugh at it now, but wasn't very funny when it happened.

I love your avatar, by the way. I work for the Nationals and when I heard that Harry collapsed, it was terrible. I can't believe it happened where I work.

Oh man, I'm going to be the Pens fan that killed Harry now, huh?

Seriously though, awesome avatar.

You hate us and vice versa, but still my hats off to you guys tonight. Good game.
Thanks for your empathy.

Waitaminute, I'm not burning the city down. And my team is 0-2, not even tied 1-1.

Oh jeez, I must not care about my team as much as penguins fans do.

Nice backhanded compliment. Now go the **** away.

Good game boys. Hopefully the rest of the series is as competitive and intense as these last 2 games have been.

from a non biased opinion:

you guys played a good game, especially since it was in pittsburgh and should have won had carter not shot at fleury.

the officiating was good surprisingly with the exception of the hook at the end of the game. both penalties in overtime were the right call but staal should have gotten holding the stick if anything was called.

my point is your team played a hell of a game the thing i have noticed is on this board( Imean the server in general) is the minority dont buy it as is the case with most boards. But the minority are the most vocal when the team is doing what they think they should they bury thier team call people whiners. I dont comment much cause I love the game. Label me a troll but like I said in respect to the mods I am out. (my av is just respect to tk i love his game)

I feel bad for you guys. This playoff series is a joke. Penguins get every close call its unbelievable.

You guys would be up in this series 2-0, or 1-1 at worst. Anything to try and promote the NHL by giving the calls to the team with the 'face of the NHL' but what Bettman doesn't know is that it makes the NHL worse and thats why table tennis and ****ing tirple A develpment leagues get better ratings then the NHL

The officiating across the nhl is just complete bush league. I don't believe in the conspiracy theories, but sometimes it's just plain painful to watch. I'm not sure I've ever seen a 5on3 in overtime of a playoff game. I absolutely HATE the fact that you can't stick check anymore. I remember when you could practically knock the stick out of a guys hand and as long as you didn't actually hit him. This loss hurts... I can't stand the ****ing penguins... id rather miss the playoffs then get eliminated by pittsburgh two years in a row.

I just don't understand how people are saying that the Flyers are getting screwed by the refs, and the Penguins get away with close calls.. .

Now this was a very well played game on both sides tonight.. Flyers played a hell of a game. But if you're going to complain about refs.. then what happened when Hartnell threw his stick at Sykora and nothing was called? Or in OT when Timonen could have been called for interference or cross-checking on Adams..?

All I'm saying is that the refs were pretty even on calls/non-calls through-out the game. The "hooking" penalty that Staal drew that lead to a goal was weak and should not have been called either.. but like I said the Flyers got their breaks too.. and they decided not to play too smart at the end of OT, because in my mind those were both obvious calls to make..

now with that said it was a great game tonight, the Flyers def. came to play, and Biron played very well in net.. I look forward to a great game 3 and 4 in Philly.

I'm curious about what timonen did to get the 10 minute misconduct.

I'm pretty sure he didnt do anything to a pens player, because a) he's just not that type of player and b) there was no scrum after the goal

So im almost sure he told the refs to **** off. Which i find very interesting because i think the way most of the calls have gone in this series is total bull **** (as do most flyers fans)

It was a five on three, and Marty couldn't not consider the other four Pens players on the ice... I believe he addressed that in his post game interview, but I didn't catch it 100%.

I see your point, but I just can't complain about a goalie not making a save on a two man advantage... unless it is a clear cut bad effort on his part. Goalies give up those all the time in such circumstances; had he passed and they scored Marty would have been cited for not covering that chance well enough. I guess I'd just rather not say that should have been saved; it was not a blatant gaff.

I agree, I think Marty played well enough for us to win.
