Corvo better answer by getting one himself. It was so late in the period, he didn't need to try a risky play with so little time

That late goal really hurt.....but on the upside the first period overall was pretty good.

Huge penalty kill that I was hoping would give the guys some good momentum.

And that quick goal 20 seconds after the Devils is reminiscent of a team we all loved and adored a few years ago.

Devils announcers are annoying.

same thing we have been seeing for 3 years. This team loves to stick check. If Whitney takes the body on Gionta the goal never happens and the turnover is moot. Instead he swipes at it and then skates by leaving Gio alone on Cam. You guys can blame Corvo all you want but as far as im concerned Whitney should have made the simple play and erased Corvo's mistake. You must stop stick checking and take the freakin body.

If they keep playing the way they did in the first then they should make that goal up no problem

The guys on TSN are talking about the "fighting" in the playoffs and how the NHL is angry about the fighting and game misconducts.

Um...when you have matchups like BOSTON vs MONTREAL, one of the biggest rivalries in the NHL, and PHILLY vs PITTSBURGH....what do they expect to happen? Those players HATE each other.

That's great and everything, but if Corvo didn't cough that puck up, this convorsation wouldnt be taking place. Plain and simple. Those plays such as what Whitney did happen every night, every shift and don't always result in goals. Corvo had the puck, he made a dumb decision. Sure Whitney could have made the simple play and erased a mistake made by Corvo, but guess what? That rediculous peewee mistake should have never been made. IT'S CALLED USE THE BOARDS/GLASS TO CLEAR THE PUCK.

I agree with you about stick checking in general, it annoys the hell out of me at the best of times. All I think about on many occasions is 'why don't you take the body'. You don't have to be a big guy, you dont have to crush him, but take the body. With that said, if Corvo had of used his head and cleared the puck, Whitney using his body means nothing.

The play by play guy wouldn't be horrible on his own...but that "commentary" guy is horrible. He is mumbling through DEVILS players names and has yet to contribute to any kind of discussion. I'm not even sure if he is watching the game. The annoying thing about the play by play guy is it seems to identify players more by their home country than by their names.

RBC sounds nice and loud though.

I feel okay about coming out of a period down only a goal after giving up three powerplays and not getting any of our own. We can make that goal back up. We just have to make sure Corvo doesn't implode with self confidence issues. He'll have time to make that up. Dude is so hard on himself it wouldn't shock me if he went into turtle mode and got the yips for the rest of the series.

Yeah I have a suspicion that unlike most late period goals the team will rally to protect Corvo and respond with 3 goals. At least that's what I'm trying to convince myself of.

Not that I don't mind the PP....that was a pretty weak hooking call though.

Corvo still looks a little jumpy.

How the **** did Eaves not draw a penalty. That was a blatant display of holding as there is.

If I didn't know any better, I would think we were shorthanded.

Let's go boys!

I don't want to jump the gun, but if I were Maurice i'd be considering a timeout to get the boys heads back in line here. We get scored on and it's 3-1, that's tough.
