After watching game 3 of the Montreal Bruins game, I hope Gainey(if hes still here) makes a pitch for this guy. Habs need a goal scorer that can take over games and I think hed be great with the habs.

You know if I was him I would think about signing with a team like the Pens or Caps. Someone that plays a lot of offense and sign at like 1 year 4mil and then hope for a great year and really cash in..

However I agree with what you are saying, there has been a trend on these boards of almost every free-agent going to the canucks at some point this year (j-bo, sedin, sundin, gaborik ect). The canucks have cap space but i don't see them getting gaborik and have him play on a 2nd line. No allstar over ppg player would be willing to settle for that position.

This all of course depends heavily on how well the canucks do in the playoffs this year, and more specifically how well the sedins do. There are alot of question marks going into next year for vancouver (luongo, sundin, sedin's, and the UFA market) that will depend on their post-season success.

In regards to gaborik i wouldnt be suprised if he ended up in LA for 15M over 2 years.
Sundin is currently signed for 8.6mil... With him off the books we can throw that money at whoever we want. Now, Edler gets his raise next season, as does Burrows, and the Sedins. But we also have Ohlund coming off the books at 3.5mil and Pyatt coming off at around 1.5mil.

We can afford a 7million dollar player for 2 years... That could be J-Bo, Gaborik, or whoever.

There's also the chance that we could try and trade Salo or Bieksa in the off season for a forward to play on our top line (salaries will generally have to cancel out) and then we sign J-Bo for around 7mil, a 6th defenseman for 2mil, and still have about 3mil or more to play with.

This is all speculation... But the point is, Vancouver has options and can afford to take on somebody like Gaborik or J-Bow while many teams can't.

This sentence is confusing. He wants to be in Minnesota, but doesn't want to be in Minnesota, so he won't be, but he wants to be, but might come back, maybe, but doesn't want to..

He won't re-sign there. Most likely. He might still, though. We'll see.

I agree he will likely opt for an offensive minded team where he will be granted the freedom to work his Magic. Unless of course the Wild change their team philosophy and go to an offensive one. It seems unlikely they would do the full 180 though considering how much time they've invested in the strong defense first system. I could see them merging into the middle moreso than a drastic change and that may be sufficient for Gaborik to stay in a place with which he's familiar.
The only certainty with the Gaborik situation is somebody is going to get one helluva player.

I think Lombardi makes a serious bid on him, but I don't feel he fits LA's style of play.

The Ilse are nearly 9M under the cap floor, presuming it stays the same. I'm sure they can throw in 12-13M at the Sedins + 3.75 to Tavares (cap hit, but any bonus reached will mean the team is doing well) + what remaining needs they have and still be under 50M. Assuming DiPietro stays healthy, that team can do some damage. Are they really a salary floor team?

I think Gaborik will stay in Minny.

I like the optimism, but I believe that the previous management has irreparably damaged the goodwill between Gaborik, his agent Salcer and the Wild organization. No matter who the new GM/Coach will be. I think it will be a bidding war between St Louis and Los Angeles. He'll get money, but I don't think a team will invest longterm until Gabby can prove his durability.

Kings - 2 years @ $8M per

Top line of Brown-Kopitar-Gaborik would be scary indeed

Nash-Vermette-Gaborik

Sounds good to me. Won't happen with trying to get Nash to stay long term though.

There's like... A 95% chance the Sedins are re-signed in Vancouver. They want to be here... The only question is, do we want them here?

Currently, they have a combined 9 points in 8 games in the playoffs... While their 3rd linemate has 3 goals in 4 games. So yes, if they do continue a PPG pace in the playoffs we will re-sign them even if it means giving them a bit more than we originally would have liked.

The biggest bash on the Sedins is they are playoff chokers... If they prove that isn't the case, their price tag will go up... 12mil between the two of em with a NTC for 5 years is fine with me if they produce a PPG in playoffs.

Cool. Just make sure you order the 3rd jersey, and not the regular cheesy weenie one.

The Islanders are a team I can see doing this you add Tavares and Gaborik and maybe bring back Guerin and you've got yourself a pretty decent offense with the improvement of Nilsson, Okposo, Bailey etc
