Giroux is a freaking magician. That shorthanded feed to gagne was a thing of beauty. he beat letang, gonchar and fleury all by himself.

Yeah and the officiating was by far the worst this game than the last two, even considering the phantom penalty on Carter led to the loss in Game 2.

My main worry is still Carle-Coburn. That pairing has had serious problems in 3 games so far and both players have been guilty of some bad mistakes.

We need to play better in Game 4 though, cut some of those mistakes out of our game.

And I think we're all upset about the penalties, but the Flyers need to realize that weak stuff may get called. For example, I thought the slashing penalty on Carter was ludicrous, but at the same time, Carter just shouldn't put his stick there and give the refs the opportunity to call it.
Carle-Coburn are good OFD at this point, but they NEED someone who is defensively responsible. NEED NEED NEED.

As it stands, Carle-Coburn is great for putting up pressure on offense, but defensively it all comes down to Coburn. I noticed they both are not afraid to pinch, and the other WILL go back and be ready, but the forwards will often NOT cover, which causes 2on1 or 3on1. I would change the pairings, but I suppose Stevens feels that the current set-up helps Parent, who we are kind of grooming into a shutdown D. You dont want a young d-man like that with Carle do you? Maybe the players feel more comfortable with the pairings? All I know is that for a 2nd pairing, Carle and Coburn are certainly solid offensively, they just give up to many rushes the other way. Carle's defense is a little underrated on this board, because he gets so much flak for pinching, which he should be more careful about, I agree. The pens in particular will eat you up on breakaways.

He continues to amaze me. I really want to keep this kid around a long time.

I can't wait to see what he can do when he's regularly playing in the top 6. Something like Hartnell-Giroux/Carter-Carter/Giroux would make me very, very happy.

He is giving 110% AND he just has a patience which you see in seasoned vets. Sure he is subject to rookie mistakes (Game 2) but I cant wait to see how he turns out in the next few years.

Hopefully he stays will Philadelphia.

Richards, Carter, Giroux are all must keeps. Hartnell needs to stay around to, since we need his style of hockey. The rest all depend on our cap space.

Granted, I don't understand cap management all that well...but I am afraid we won't be able to keep Giroux after a couple of years. With big contracts needed for some of our other players (Carter, Gagne in a couple of years) and with all the crazy inflated contracts (isn't Jones getting something ridiculous?) I'm really afraid we won't be able to afford him.

As far as I see it, he is one player that would be worth dishing out a NTC for...he could be REALLY big for us throughout his career. So maybe a NTC drives his contract/cap hit down a little bit...would it be enough to keep him?

As discussed in the GDT, Gagne comes off the books when Giroux is due for a contract extension. I love Gagne like the next guy, but given age, health and upside...I'd have to say that Gagne won't be back. Should that happen, there is the money for Giroux.

This.

Gagne's contract ends when Giroux comes up for RFA and quite frankly, by then, I see us taking Giroux, considering Gagne's age and health.

I think if we could try to extend Giroux's contract now, when he would hopefully not be asking for as much money as he will in the future we could avoid the possibility of losing Gagne.

I want to point out that of all the regular season games I went to (4 of them) compared to the Playoff game I was at yesterday, the goal horn actually seemed quiet yesterday.

That's how loud that place was yesterday.

Seeing such a sea of orange, and the entire place packed, was a beautiful thing.

Foppa v2, now with FMA technology

(Fighting Major Avoidance)

I feel bad for Claude that he wasn't given the 5. After beating some one down like that he deserves the PIM's!

Nah, Claude is ok, he has 2 extra PIMs from Game 2 he wants to forget about, he was probably happy he only got the 2 yesterday.

I don't believe you're allowed to negotiate an extension until a player is in the final year of his contract.

Stevens sat with him on the flight back after Game 2, and he had a monster Game 3.

My heart sank when I saw Claude with his head down in the box after the OT call.

He's a guy that really get's IT.

You may be right, I think he did get 4.

The reason they gave him 4 rather then the fighting major, was because after such a beating, it would have been a travesty to award a fighting major to Kennedy, since he landed nothing on Giroux and only landed on his ass.

The refs decided it was such a beating, they would give Giroux 4 real PIM's and we had to kill off a huge PP (pens scored during it). Kennedy got nothing but tears and pain (and tampoons in his nose).

I've alway found this medical device(yes it is real, no we don't have it on out units)
kind of amusing and sick at the same time.

Shippert Rhino Rocket®

Up your nose with what??
