The "Quit *****ing, it's the ****in' Playoffs!" Thread

All the other threads are long and full of arguments, and mild optimism followed instantly by insane pessimism. Let's start fresh.

The regular season is over, every game we played before this moment mattered only for our playoff position. It's not the best we could do, but that can't be changed now. Right now, we're playing our biggest rival in the playoffs, man! We've still got Mike Richards and Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne and Kimmo Timonen, still got the loudest/baddest/best fans in the league, still gonna have an arena packed with bright orange freebies, still got at least 4 games to watch, we're still the ****in' Philadelphia Flyers.

Stop shaving, get loud, get drunk, get excited. It's the playoffs, baby! Get pumped! If you're with me, shout it out, if not, keep it outta here, you have 150 other venues for that.

This is a burst of optimism. Though I'm so disappointed from today, I'm still pumped for the playoffs.

**** the Pens, GO FLYERS!

PIT: 99 points
PHI: 99 points

PIT Goals per game: 3.15
PHI Goals per game: 3.17

PIT goals against per game: 2.84
PHI goals against per game: 2.83

PIT PP%: 17.2%
PHI PP%: 22.5%

PIT PK%: 82.7%
PHI PK%: 83.0 but we lead the league in shorties

We match up pretty even with the Pens, when the Flyers play their game. Of course, right now that doesn't look like it will happen. However, the Pens could just think that they are going to dominate and maybe come out flat. This series could go either way.

Anybody that says they are willing to give up their tickets, don't be shy to ask me if I would take them I went to the only game we won against Pittsburgh last year, so I am also a good luck charm

LET'S GO FLYERS!!!

I have home game 3 tickets (Game 6 now...) was rather hoping it would be a game 5. I doubt we'll see 6

I don't think this is what this thread was going for, but after the World ****ing Champion Phillies I find it hard to get too upset about anything in my life, especially sports. I feel a calm sense of confidence* about the Flyers this year. Maybe they won't win the Cup, but I feel somewhat sure of a pretty good run again this spring. And if not, I probably won't be too upset. The entire city gets a free pass for roughly a year after that championship.

*this could be more a result of all the wine I drank tonight than anything the Flyers have done

Flyers are winning this in 6. Game 6 will bring back memories of Belfour and the glorious game 7 against the Leafs.

I wish I was in the same boat as you, but a stanley cup would mean so much more to me than that world series championship ever will. I mean it's great the Phils won but it doesn't fill the void for me.

Don't get me wrong, hockey trumps baseball every day of the week, but being born shortly after Philly's last championship, the mere fact that we ended the curse after my 23 years of life is good enough for me.

I'd love to be optimistic, but even if I achieved that I'd still be extremely disappointed with how the team's been run this year.

So, I'll go as far as I can after my generally ****** day: go Flyers.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I should rock the Scottie one for the playoffs. I really like it, but I also like BU being National Champs and then every time I see the Scottie one, it reminds me that he's gone and I get depressed.
