Still think Kovalevs not the habs best forward?

Noone else is doing **** when the going gets tough, we've seen this time and time again. Kovalev is our best forward, sign him, he should be the priority. Koivu tries but he cant score to save his life. Tanguay, Plekanec, Kostitsyns, these guys are the REAL BALLERINAS.

I agree that Kovalev and Koivu are not scared of the rough stuff. Thats why they are always performing in the playoff. The rest...

I would sign Kovalev and Koivu. Plekanec and Tanguay are a bit to soft for me and they dont seem to be playoff players. Kostitsyn, I dont even want to talk about him uhh.

I'd give Kovalev one year deals as long as he can help the team.

Kovalev is somehow a good playoff performer. Koivu too.

That's exactly the problem. Two rather old players outperform our young players (A-SKosts, Plek, etc.).

I've been saying "just wait and you'll see!" re: kovalev all season. I have, however been thoroughly wrong about pleky and akost.

btw I think tanguay is an amazing player, hasn't been used properly this series, and let's not forget what he was in Colorado. Please Bob, allow him to do his thing.

Kovalev is a great player. Lazy at times, perhaps not a 90-point player, but certainly someone I'd like on my team.

He should definitely be re-signed.

Kovalev and Koivu are money in the playoffs. Sure they are getting frustrated with the rest of the team, like when Kovalev got pissed that he took a penalty then he gave up on the play and the bruins skated down the ice and had a scoring chance before the whistle! But if the rest of the team was producing he wouldn't get so frustrated with a penalty as it wouldn't be such a big deal. Schneider, Tanguay, both Kostitsyn's, Lapiere, Hamrlik, Gorges, and even the extras Dandeneault, Brisebois, Weber, Obyrne, all need to be better. That's a lot of guys!! I don't know why the team is playing so badly other than missing its best Defenceman and top Center. But this team can still compete as long as the lines work and the guys give playoff emotion and work ethic. They broke down tonight, hope they can get it going back in Montreal.

Just like in 93. Down 2 games to none against the Nords

He is by far our most talented forward.

I'm as much of a fan of Kovalev as the next guy, but he is way too inconsistent during the regular season. On some nights he can be the best player on the ice, others you can't even tell he's in the lineup. He is still a playoff performer, but without him we cannot go far.

We need more efficient support players. Plekanec and A Kost aren't even contributing to this series. When top 2 line player can't provide offensively, they can at least try to be more physical (see Ovechkin). Surely they are not the same calibre as Ovechkin, but being a bit physical isn't very difficult.

If only he played like this in the regular season maybe we wouldn't be facing the Bruins in the 1st round.

He's awesome. Not a lot of hate threads these days eh?

The man is an absolute beast when he tries and though he falls asleep sometimes, he performs when it counts. 3 goals in the 2 games for this team and Kovy has 2 of them. Amazing playoff horse.

If you don't resign him, then you don't want a powerplay nor anything close to a gamebreaker. How sick was his deke late in the game! If only he was only 10 years younger....

From a neutral fan watching the two games, it's Kovalev v.s. Bruins. Respects to Mr. Kovalev.

If only our retard coach for the first 66 games realized that Plekanec was sucking the life out of him and used him properly.

We need more than just support players. We need players that will lead this team production wise. We can't ask a 35 player (36 next year) to be our scoring leader. Koivu and Kovalev are exactly the type of ''veteran presence'' any cup potential team would want for the POs.

We need them to be complimentary players, the day THEY'll be the support players, we'll have a great team.
I think A.Kost can become dominant, and it's only his 2nd year so giving up on him this early would be dumb.
We definitely need to get a top line center next year.

Even if Plekanec plays better next year and gets bigger, I don't see his softness go away.

I've been, and still am for a 2 year contract for Kovy. I think it works nicely for both sides, as long as the Habs can also get another, even higher-end forward. Somewhere around 4-5 million for Kovy...will any other team offer significantly more enough to lure him away? I just can't wait/imagine seeing Kovalev in more of a supporting role. I think he could thrive (think along the lines of Jagr/Kovalev in Pittsburgh). We just need the right premier player to be the actual face of the franchise, because I want nothing more than to have Kovalev (and Koivu) win the Cup in a Canadiens uniform, and I don't think they're that far off. These guys are winners, in the right situation.

i'd use a monkey-paw wish on that. Kovalev is the heart of the team, and he's in love with our admiration for him. to have more quality time out of him would be a dream

I'm not changing my mind. When he wants to play, Kovalev is one of the best players in the league as he's proving right now. But when he doesn't want to play, he's a pain in the ass who pouts and does what HE wants. But it's nothing new, he's been like that his entire career. Glad he's showing up, but where has this kind of dedication been all year?

This team needs a serious change in leadership and Kovalev is part of it. I wouldn't re-sign him but Gainey has a hard-on for him and he'll be blinded by his recent play. No worries, he'll be back and we'll be cussing him again next year...

Kovy can be a great a great individual player when he wants to but as we saw yesterday, he tries to do all by himself, I really had the feeling that it was Kovy against the Bruins yesterday, was trying to everything by his own.. I undertand he had Laraque on his line but still, its a team game, Kovy always had a tough time to play with his linemates and we had to wait til the end of the season before he comes back to life again.. It almost costed the playoffs and another coach is gone..

Kovy is an individual player, as skilled as this guy is, we need a team, not a bunch of individual ones working alone on their side.. Bruins are a perfect example of what a team is about.. Hard work, discipline, communication between players, quick puckmovement, tape to tape pass, quick transition, players supporting each other perfectlym, hard skating and taking advantage of the open space.. they are playing incredible hockey in unit of 5, what the Habs struggled to do for the entire season.. As skilled as Kovy is, he doesnt answer any of those points, he is an individual player like he has been all his carreer long, its time to start on new basics, have a guideline since day 1 of the training camp, time to change the leadership of this team, time to make our guys fight for their ice time, play the way the coach want them to play, thats how it works everywhere in the NHL in today's game.. there is the GM, the head coach, the assist. coaches, and then the players.. Thats something the guys wearing this jersey will have to understand in the futur, you arent bigger than the ones behind the bench, you have to execute and act like a pro.. Thats something Carbo tried to make them understand this year but unfortunately, instead responding positively, they responded like some unhappy primadonas sitting on their ass and letting the team go down.. and Kovy is the first one Im targeting here..

To blame Kovy for ANY of this mess is crazy. Kovy supporters have correctly stated all season that he'd be money in the playoffs and he has been. He can't force a guy to hit an open net, etc.

People can say what they want about the regular season, but he led the team in points and goals. Also, Kovy did the most scoring when the games mattered most. Without Kovy, we miss the playoffs.

He's been the best player on the team this playoff, hands down. To make him the problem makes zero sense. He's closing in on 100 career playoff points. It's time to appreciate him while he's still here.
