Bruins are 1st place in the east, burned through the regular season, they are up 3-0 in the 1st round of the playoff and they still need some practice...

On the other hand, we barely made it into the playoffs, we have tons of on-ice issues, but Gainey doesnt feel like the team needs practice. I don't understand it. This morning a full Boston team took the ice for practice at the Bell Center...

We've been talking alot about the leadership of this team over the last few years and i'm starting to think the lack of it is coming from the direction ie coaches, gm, etc.

Discuss.

p.s. i saw Chara on st-antoine this morning, he's HUGE. no wonder no one wants to go in the corner with him lol

Habs practice the same way they are playing on the ice... non-existent.

Like i said on another post, you play the same way you practice, having multiple day-off and no practice, guess what happen : players take a game-off....

Make them practice at 100% and they will give 100% in the game. It is a question of having good habits...

i hope you are kidding.

Bruins are having a real practice. Habs have had like 4-5 real practices since Gainey has been coach. The rest of the time they just skate around, do some light drills, most of the players aren't there, etcetc

Maybe they would be better off practicing in Abbotsford?

The point i'm trying to make in this thread is not that the habs aren't practicint TODAY, its that they haven't been practicing seriously for the past weeks.

Carbo decided to play Gorges in front after the bowling. Maybe tomorrow Gainey's gonna put Tanguay in D.

On another note, I heard that when Tampa had Burke and Grahame, Tortorella asked if he could play 2 goalies and 4 skaters. I wonder if Gainey should do the same thing.

the prob is that vets like Koivu Kovalev Hamrlik cant handle those practices anymore, they are old, lack energy and thay have enough with 1 game in 2 days.. Kovy is well knew to hate practicing too so..

You play like you practice, I personally believe in that and thats why I think some vets have to go..

From HabsInsideOut:

"Eight players, including defenceman Mike Komisarek and goalies Carey Price and Jaroslav Halak, took advantage of an optional skate in Brossard while other players worked in the gym. Injured players Andrei Markov and Robert Lang skated prior to the practice but neither looked ready to resume playing. "

The OP was right, there was no practice today. To tell you the truth, I think almost everyone realizes that this series is over and I dont see most of the players really caring at this point.

To be fair, it's been like that all season long.

Optional practices and days off were given way too often, even when we clearly had issues with the system. There's a reason why we haven't looked structured all year.
