naslund spazzes (yes naslund)

you all know how soft-spoken, classy, and generally calm and collected and politically correct markus naslund is.

But it's those kinds of people that deal with emotional pain the toughest because they keep things bottled up too much, unlike people who have a short temper, they get rid of that kind of pain by yelling a lot and breaking some chairs.

SO for a guy like markus things eventually spill over into..........this:
http://pegasus.lunarpages.com/~vanco...%20spazzes.avi

keep your eye on 19 and what he does in the tunnell.

This happened after the loss to the hawks tonight.

This isn't necesserily canucks talk i think considering this guy is an all-star, and this is so uncharacteristic for him and i think fans of other teams would be interested in this too.

edit: btw, don't left-click on this, right-click and save it to your hard drive. It's a big file (5megs) so you have to watch it like that

Yeah sorry, I just noticed the Blackhawks thing on the bench.. I don't blame him. They lost to the Hawks tonight. Its a good move by Naslund.. maybe it will get his teamates going a little because tonights loss is kind of pathetic. I mean they came back from 3-1 and all, but they shouldnt have been down in the first place.

Good job Markus... if I were a Canuck it would get me going.. they don't seem to care too much about the overtime loss.. notice Allen and Sanderson pat eachother on the back near the end while Naslund is going nuts in front of them.

i think you're completely right.........the guy is quiet and doesn't say much. But he's so pissed off at himself right now that if any guy saw this they should all be thinking "holy crap" and automatically trying to find ways to play better AND help markus himself get out of his funk too.

edit: and yes, sorry, it happened after the hawks game, i'll put that in

Wow, thanks for the clip.

I've probably watched it like 15 times now, it's just so bizarre to see. Good to see him fired up I guess.

I wonder if Bill Wirtz will replace that lightbulb?

That doesn't look fired up to me. It looks like pure frustration, an emotion that never results into anything positive. I doubt you'll see Näslund coming out like the pre-concussioned Eric Lindros on steroids the next game. If anything, there will be even more bad passes, more missed shots and perhaps a few dumb penaltys.

it's progress.

when guys like him experience emotional pain they bottle it all up.

You CANNOT play well unless you deal with what's inside you

He's released some of it now.......a little. He now can have more focus, more clarity. And he'll be able to think to himself about the TEAM and FOCUS on that, and think less about his buddy bertuzzi.

Baby steps.......but he's getting there. I think by the playoffs you'll see him changed. At least i hope so

Hard to know how he responds to the pressure this time. In previous years he has folded pretty easily and did not have the capacity to step up as much as he should have.

This season it has been a different story. He has been the on-ice leader for his team and stepped up when they needed him most.

Hope he is able to shake this off and lead the team in the playoffs.

Haha, I know, I think I watched it 10 times - it was just out-of-the-ordinary... I hope the Canucks can get right back on track (for his sake atleast).
