I would love having Murray on the national team again. The problem is that Gus seem to disagree.

I think your description fits Bäckis of last season; and I would have had him on my team too -- but this season he have actually become allot stronger. He humiliated Gomez in the PO's basically...

I don't think salmings team is that bad. I rather have good balance then add up all the talent we have -- in the end we can only win by beeing smarter the other team. Russia, Canada and co will always have more talent.

He is very far from a lock. The fact that he was in playoffs now means that he doesn't get a chance to show that he isn't the worst defenseman ever to play in a tre kronor jersey since Rohlin's last few games in time for the olympics.

It was a pain to see him park in front of the finnish net in 2006. He was a HUGE part of the final game. HUGE.

And anyone who has seen Jonas Andersson play lately and can honestly say that there isn't a couple of NHL teams where he would easily jump into the second line and improve it are blind or have little hockey knowledge. He is one of your BEST european-based players.

Parody Roster

this is in no way an actual roster, but just one to try and get people thinking...

Imagine: Team Sweden made entirely from NHLers from this years playoff scoring leaders.

Zetterberg-Backstrom-Franzen
Sedin-Sedin-Samuelsson
Holmstrom-Sundin-Naslund
Huselius-Pahlsson-Modin

Lidstrom-Edler
Kronwall-Ericsson
Ohlund-Hjalmarsson

Lundqvist
Backup (Lundqvist?)
3rd String (see: Backup)

That looks really good. Maybe Homer instead of Berglund, MAYBE. I want J. Ericsson insted of Strålman but then we got no right-handed defenceman. Thats a goldmedal team

Johan Andersson would never jump in on a second line in NHL with his limited upside he wuld be lucky to make the third line.

When did you see him play? Because this last season he has really surprised everyone (except Kärpät management it seems)....

I loved Weinhandl's play in this year's tournament so i think the Swedish Gm will reward him with a spot on the roster

As for defence.

Guys like Enstrom, Edler, Ohlund aren't locks, not by a long shot.

Lidstrom (Should atleast be top-5 next season)
Kronwall (Top-20)
Jönsson (Top-10)
Ericsson (Really impressed by this guy, never out of time, laser shot, good passes and good vision, skates effortlessly for his size, throws hits and fights if needed.)
Murray (One of the best hitters in the game today, tough as nails - constantly awesome +/-)
Strålman (Constantly great on the national team, very underrated - hopefully he gets to leave Toronto)

Then you have Edler, Ohlund, Enstrom, Lilja, Oduya, Grossman, Johnsson...

Don't think Karlsson and Hedman will be ready.

One of the best defensive line-ups in the world?

All guys who have Sundin in their list can remove him. He said to expressen that he will NOT play OG 2010! He also said his National team carrier is finished!

I will miss Jönsson! But I will not miss Sundin! Seriously he has been absence from NHL and hockey in six month. In Vancouver he was injured very much. He hasn't any motivation and have injury problems. No I rather see a younger and fresher guy with much motivation. This is what Sweden needs. The same for Jönsson. He has injury and motivation problems and then it's good he's out even if I will miss him.

Yeah I agree with STHLM, Sundin isn't the same player anymore. I suppose if he really gets back on the training regime this summer and has a good start that he could have been an asset for Sweden, but if he is anything like he was this year he won't help, Sweden has way too many good players for this version of Sundin to be good.
