OT: Northeast Skatezone Spring League

Hey guys and gals,

I'm looking to start up a spring league team at the Northeast Flyers' Skatezone. I've got a handful of guys who said yes, including a goalie, but i'm still gauging interest and you can always use a few extra hands when people miss games for vacations and what not. If anyone is interested let me know or shoot me a PM and we'll set something up.

What league are you putting a team in? I've played there some over the past few summers in the A league. The A league there is pretty decent as far as men's leagues go. NE Skate zone, Hatfield, Warwick, Wintersport, Face off...thats how I would rank the competition in rinks in my area.

Well it depends, i'm decent enough I can hang in A. Most of the people I know are between B and C. It depends on the make-up of the team really. I'm leaning towards C cause i have a bunch of friends who just want to enjoy themselves and I'm not sure of the strength of my goalie. I'd like to play A sometime, but i don't know enough people to make a team.

I wouldnt mind doing this at all. I live about 30 minutes from the Northeast and my grandparents live there. I clearly wouldnt rank myself in the A league. I my skating is decent. Defense not so much. Stickhandling decent as well. Paired with a decent shot. I would love to play in the C league. I think I could get a friend to play goalie for you. Not bad at all.

What's the level of competition for a "C" team? And is there hitting?

Pretty much anyone that can skate. There is no hitting. Its basically just a bunch of guys looking for an excuse to ditch the wife for a few hours and have a good time with the guys.

What he said.

Right now I've got a a rag-tag squad that is pretty decent. A few people who played club college hockey, a guy who plays rollar hockey that is decent, a girl who captained Glaciers at Face-Off and some other solid guys. I'll pretty much welcome anyone, I just really don't want too many beginners if at all, or at least if you are can at least handle yourself on the ice and not look like a clown.

I'd love to join you guys, NE Skate zone is like 45 minutes from me but I have to go there anyway to coach ESYHF... I'm a defenseman on my College Club team, could probably compete in A level but C level sounds more fun. Just tell me how much and when!

If you still need a few guys, I think I'd be interested. I'm not that great (definitely B/C level), but just looking to have some fun, and I might be able to find some more guys if need be. Any info on the cost and times would be great!

This is ice. Me and my brother are interested in joining this. We are def. A league skill wise but skating wise would be a big . We're looking to get into ice but never played before. I'm sure I would pick it up fairly quickly. We were just there today for my lil bros game. If its a C-league let me know.

Tothenet i sent you a message, but i have played their for a year now, for other people that are interested. I used to play at wintersport, but hated it cause the refs would never call anything, and i would get slashed all the time by huge goons, in which since im not the biggest guy i couldnt do anything so it sucked. The C level at Skate Zone is usually fair, never has one team been like dominant and win every game, any team could win any game.

The fall league is still going on, about 3 games left in the season and then playoffs. I haven't seen them put up the spring info yet.

Excellent,

People who are interested in playing. Shoot me a message with your e-mails so I can compile a list and gauge interest so I can figure out cost and what we are going to do about jerseys.

If ya ever need a goalie I would be down. I am thinking about getting some real skates soon so I can play some wing during mens league. I have played goalie my entire life on ice, but back in the day I would play out for roller hockey (10 years ago?!?!). I have been coaching since I graduated last year and I could easily play out too. Everyone pretty much has a goalie around here so I usually just fill in over the course of the summer for random teams.

Well since the team is going to be half HFers, we might as well call ourselves Team:HF! Then when anyone from the boards join up it'll be a nice transition.

Anyone else still want to join? we have spots still.
