Omg I can't believe he can't steal one for his COUNTRY.
I hope he gets booed by Slovakia for not stepping up. What a loser.
+1
Who cares if Canada is one of the best teams in the tourney and Slovakia doesn't have nearly as many good players? As a goalie you HAVE TO be able to steal one and Halak failed to do that, plain and simple.
Now Halak lost in the playoffs last year and blew this one, he's clearly not ready for these pressure situations. We rushed him, it's obvious now.
no I didn't. The Bruins a better team than this version of team canada. There is a reason why these players were available for the world championships.
Goalkeepers: Josh Harding (Minnesota), Dwayne Roloson (Edmonton).
Defencemen: Drew Doughty (Los Angeles), Dan Hamhuis (Nashville), Chris Phillips (Ottawa), Luke Schenn (Toronto), Shea Weber (Nashville), Ian White (Toronto).
Forwards: Colby Armstrong (Atlanta), Shane Doan (Phoenix), Mike Fisher (Ottawa), Dany Heatley (Ottawa), Shawn Horcoff (Edmonton), Matthew Lombardi (Phoenix), James Neal (Dallas), Derek Roy (Buffalo), Martin St. Louis (Tampa Bay), Jason Spezza (Ottawa), Steven Stamkos (Tampa Bay), Scottie Upshall (Phoenix).
I would take the Bruins roster thank you very much.

It's all assertion on the part of any of us but I am completely confident that every GM in the NHL, including Boston's, would gladly take the Team Canada roster going forward. If they played together as a team for even part of a season and developed a cohesive style of play they would be a powerhouse in today's NHL. And no team has a group of young prospects to match the junior aged trio of Stamkos, Doughty and Schenn, not to mention the goaltending of Mason. That would be a quartet to build a team around for a decade.

You left out Chris Mason in net too, who is a pretty solid netminder.
I guess, until this year, Steve Begin was better than Rick Nash because he had made the playoffs right?

HOLY **** you're being serious then!!
I'll humor you, whatever:
Goaltending: Boston has the slight edge with Thomas, I'll give you that, but IMO Mason can be just as good (at times), Roloson was great this year too.
Defencemen: A very young core but very productive. You'd take Wideman and Chara (the rest of the D is decent at best) over Doughty, Weber, Hamhuis and Schenn? Chris Phillips is a rock on defence too, and Ian White is a heart kind of guy.
Forwards: This is where I'm just stumped. Guys like Armstrong, Doan, Heatley, Neal, Roy, St.Louis, Spezza are inferior to Savard/Bergeron/Kessel/Krejci/Sturm/Ryder. Really? I guess it's your opinion, but no way in hell for me, that'd be the best lineup in the NHL bar none.
I just don't see how Boston is a better team, not one bit. We battled hard for every game (1st period) and they looked like a non playoff team at best. The stretches we dominated flat out exposed them and it won't be so easy for them in the next round, if anything I don't see how the Bruins can beat their next opponent after their performance against us. They swept us, fine, but it wasn't a domination type sweep but more of the Habs losing hope after going down a goal and having half the lineup injured or playing injured. Not to mention Price wasn't good and Thomas was better, maybe that's just me, but I don't think Boston is THIS good.
