Who is our best player right now...

In your opinion, who is the best Oilers player right now. No contracts, no potentials, not most valued, who is the best at their job??

Send a message via AIM to PDO
Visnovsky.

Having Gagner on the poll and Horcoff not on the poll seems pretty ridiculous....

I based my vote on who I figured we could be most screwed without for most of the season. Really, it came down to Hemsky, Roloson, and Visnovsky. My final two was Roli and Lubo...eventually decided on Roli. He had a fantastic season, and you can't argue that his play "right now" is/was exceptional.

Was a hard decision between Visnovsky and Hemsky, even Souray. I chose Hemsky though. They had to be our best players this year though.

I know it may sound crazy, but i think if we had Visnovsky for those last 20 games, the Oilers make the playoffs. The Oilers offense, especially the PP, suffered pretty hard down the stretch.

Visnovsky for me. Souray's a close 2nd.

Hemsky stepped it up this past season, but I think he still has a lot of room for development. Hell, Souray had just as many goals as him.

Roloson!

No contract (UFA), no potential (39 y.o.), not most valued by fans, and best at his job.

What do I win?

I went with Souray.

He represents the Oilers perfectly. He has talent, heart, leadership, and toughness.

We're still waiting for Hemsky to become "that" player so I couldnt vote for him.
Visnovsky is good but he's still hurt, so I can't see how he's our best player right now.
Roloson, although technically is still Oilers property; could possibly never play for the Oilers again.
I hope Gagner is in the future but he sh!ts the bed at the beginning of the season....I hope this isnt a trend.

Besides Roloson; if you could take a team made up entirely of one player who would it be?

.... what?

First of all, that logic is broken even if they were still playing. Second of all, they aren't still playing.

Lubomir Visnovsky is a better hockey player than Sheldon Souray in all three zones of the ice. Souray throwing a few more hits doesn't bridge the gap, as far as I'm concerned.

Visnovsky is the best player on the team right now. Honestly he's the last guy I'd want to see go this summer; I think he'll be a great Oiler for the rest of his contract.

It was close in my mind between Hemsky and Lubo. And then I had this thought:

The Oilers without Hemsky may not have a single 50 point player.

Needless to say, I voted for 83.

But that's most important player, not best. The Washington Capitals without Ovechkin still have Backstrom, Semin, Flieschmann, etc. But he's still there best player. I won't argue with a choice of Hemsky but I think your reason is a little off that's all.

Visnovsky is our best player by a decent gap.

Based on overall ability, probably Hemsky followed by Visnovsky.

Based on the current season, Souray gets my vote. He was a beast all year--scoring big goals, playing top minutes on D, leading by example.
Roloson is close 2nd.

I really don't see how Roli isn't taking this by a landslide. This season he was certainly our best player and it really wasn't close.
